Ward 1 of the Department of Acupuncture and Moxibustion at the Second Affiliated Hospital of Heilongjiang University of Chinese Medicine has a history of nearly 20 years. The department has strong medical and technical capabilities and undertakes clinical diagnosis, treatment, prevention, healthcare, and health education for the outpatient and inpatient services of acupuncture and moxibustion and neurology. The ward currently has 9 doctors, including 1 chief physician, 2 deputy chief physicians, 1 attending physician, and 4 resident physicians, as well as 10 nurses, including 1 deputy chief nurse.

The department is at the national forefront in treating true and pseudobulbar palsy with neck acupuncture. As the leading institution of the Pseudobulbar Palsy Traditional Chinese Medicine Clinical Pathway Collaboration Group of the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, it developed the Traditional Chinese Medicine Clinical Pathway for Pseudobulbar Palsy, which is currently being promoted and used nationwide.

The department has achieved remarkable therapeutic results in treating post-stroke hemiplegia; treating spinal cord paraplegia with Jiaji electrofield therapy; treating peripheral nerve diseases with acupuncture and moxibustion, such as ophthalmoplegia, facial paralysis, facial muscle spasm, and trigeminal neuralgia; treating urination disorders caused by neurogenic conditions, prostatic hyperplasia, or prostatitis with electroacupuncture; treating brain diseases, such as dizziness, vertigo, tinnitus, deafness, insomnia, intracranial hypertension syndrome, and hydrocephalus, with electro-neck acupuncture therapy; treating cervical spondylosis and lumbar spondylosis with Jiaji electroacupuncture therapy; and treating certain difficult and complicated diseases. The department has been reported on numerous times by the news media, enjoys a high reputation both domestically and internationally, and has generated positive social benefits.
