In 2011, Acupuncture Ward 2 was approved as a key development unit for the provincial-level key specialized disease of Heilongjiang Province—brain diseases in traditional Chinese medicine. The department has distinctive advantages in treating stroke through a combined acupuncture-and-medication approach and has promoted its acupuncture methods for stroke treatment nationwide. As a traditional acupuncture department, it has prominent advantages in stroke treatment, including the use of distinctive formulas for hemorrhagic cerebrovascular diseases; intravenous drip infusion of traditional Chinese medicine extracts for ischemic cerebrovascular diseases; and distinctive acupuncture methods combined with a series of traditional Chinese medicine decoctions for stroke to treat stroke-related hemiplegia, aphasia, and bulbar paralysis, each with its own features and advantages. The efficacy of the five-in-one method for treating facial nerve paralysis has been demonstrated in clinical practice. The department has developed a series of traditional Chinese medicine preparations, such as Zhongfengting for treating various cerebrovascular diseases; when combined with acupuncture, tuina, and rehabilitation exercise therapy, it produces better therapeutic results.
The Second Inpatient Ward of the Acupuncture Department currently has 60 beds, 2 general outpatient consultation rooms, and an average of more than 30 outpatient visits per day. It has a first-rate, high-quality nursing service team in the province. The department’s main areas of strength include senile dementia, stroke, vertigo, Wei syndrome, and facial paralysis. It actively develops specialized fields and specialty diseases and expands acupuncture rehabilitation medicine on a large scale.
