The discipline to which the Tuina Department ward of the South Campus belongs is a national key discipline and a provincial key specialty. The department highlights the characteristics of traditional Chinese medicine and adheres to equal emphasis on tuina, acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine. It has clear, stable research directions that are uniquely characteristic and advantageous. Through years of summarizing clinical experience and diligent practice, it has established a unique set of manual diagnosis and treatment techniques. In addition to the four diagnostic methods of inspection, listening and smelling, inquiry and palpation, it highlights the application of palpation technique in traumatology manipulation: through palpation it perceives the subtle changes among the patient's tendons, bones, skin and flesh, and applies various joint reduction techniques, joint mobilization techniques and tendon-regulating and reduction techniques; the fine adjustment manipulation of the spine, combined with acupuncture, physical therapy and other means, corrects dislocation of bones and joints, corrects deformation of bones and joints, treats stiffness and ischemia of muscles, ligaments and fascial soft tissues, reduces the burden on the heart and brain, improves blood supply to the heart and brain, regulates the balance of yin and yang, and treats cervical spondylosis, lumbar spondylosis, knee joint diseases and various other bone and joint diseases.

The department is adept at using comprehensive means such as tuina and bone-setting, tendon-regulating and reduction techniques, chiropractic therapy, various acupuncture techniques, Chinese and Western medicines, and physical therapy to treat all types of cervical spondylosis, all types of lumbar spondylosis, periarthritis of the shoulder, sequelae of stroke, facial palsy, insomnia, degenerative osteoarthritis of the knee, and various bone and joint and neurological diseases. It is equipped with large equipment such as multifunctional computerized traction beds, Chinese herbal fumigation beds, traditional Chinese medicine directional drug penetration devices, Chinese herbal wet compresses, Chinese herbal package compresses, red light therapeutic apparatus and microwave therapeutic apparatus.
