Acupuncture Ward 7 of the Southern Hospital of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Heilongjiang University of Chinese Medicine is Ward 1 of the Acupuncture Department of the Main Hospital. The hospital operates across two campuses, with the department operating at two locations under a dual-core model. The ward has nearly 20 years of development history. The department has strong medical and technical capabilities and undertakes clinical diagnosis, treatment, prevention, healthcare, and health education for the outpatient and inpatient services of acupuncture and neurology.

The department is at the forefront nationally in the treatment of true and pseudobulbar palsy using neck acupuncture. As the leading institution of the Pseudobulbar Palsy Traditional Chinese Medicine Clinical Pathway Collaborative Group of the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, it developed the Traditional Chinese Medicine clinical pathway for pseudobulbar palsy, which is currently being promoted and used nationwide.

The department has achieved significant therapeutic results in the treatment of post-stroke hemiplegia; spinal cord injury-induced paraplegia using Jiaji electric-field therapy; peripheral nerve disorders treated with acupuncture (such as ocular muscle paralysis, facial paralysis, facial muscle spasm, and trigeminal neuralgia); urinary disorders treated with electroacupuncture (caused by neurogenic conditions, prostatic hyperplasia, or prostatitis); cerebral disorders treated with electro-neck acupuncture (such as dizziness, vertigo, tinnitus, deafness, insomnia, intracranial hypertension syndrome, and hydrocephalus); cervical and lumbar spondylosis treated with Jiaji electroacupuncture; and certain difficult and complicated diseases. The department has been reported on numerous occasions by the news media, enjoys a high reputation both domestically and internationally, and has generated positive social impact.
