Neurological Rehabilitation Department, Ward 2
2022.11
The Second Department of Neurological Rehabilitation is a multifunctional clinical department integrating medical care, scientific research, and teaching. It currently has 40 beds; 5 physicians, including 1 chief physician and 4 attending physicians; including 1 postdoctoral fellow, 2 PhD holders, and 3 master’s degree holders; 9 nursing staff, including 2 charge nurses. Building on the essence of traditional Chinese medicine, the department actively pursues development and innovation, closely integrating traditional Chinese medicine with modern advanced rehabilitation medicine to form its own unique treatment methods. According to the principle of “comprehensive therapy, treatment tailored to the individual,” it uses traditional Chinese medicine therapies such as acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, and tuina, combined with modern rehabilitation therapies (exercise therapy, physical agent therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, etc.) to treat various diseases of the nervous system, musculoskeletal system, cardiopulmonary system, and others.
Department features:
1. Acupuncture-rehabilitation method for treating stroke: scalp cluster needling with prolonged needle retention; seven-zone acupuncture is performed on the head, and various rehabilitation treatments are carried out while the needles remain in place, including Brunnstrom training techniques, Bobath therapy, Rood therapy, speech-disorder treatment, swallowing training, etc. It has very good efficacy in restoring functional impairments caused by cerebral infarction and cerebral hemorrhage.
2. Antagonist acupuncture method for relieving muscle spasticity: through acupuncture, the strength and tone of antagonist muscles are increased to inhibit spasticity in paralyzed patients, promoting a balance between the tone of the spastic and antagonist muscles, thereby promoting the emergence of normal reflexes and postures and the coordination of movement, and restoring the motor function of paralyzed limbs.
3. Jiaji electroacupuncture method for treating spinal cord injury, cervical spondylosis, and lumbar disc herniation: needles are inserted into the Jiaji points and connected to electroacupuncture. It can treat spinal cord injury, improve the blood supply to the spinal cord, and promote regeneration of nerves in the injured spinal cord; it promotes muscular traction on the vertebral bodies, mobilizes the intervertebral joints, reduces compression of the spinal cord and spinal nerve roots, and treats cervical, lumbar-spine, and other disorders.
4. Neck acupuncture combined with swallowing training for treating bulbar palsy: Yu’s scalp cluster needling in the nape area (neck acupuncture) is used together with the Yiming, Gongxue, Lianquan, Jinjin, and Yuye points, combined with swallowing-function training to treat dysphagia (bulbar palsy) and improve swallowing and phonation functions.
5. Floating-needle treatment for pain conditions: floating-needle therapy is used to treat neck–shoulder syndrome, periarthritis of the shoulder, lateral or medial humeral epicondylitis (tennis elbow, golfer’s elbow), various acute sprains and contusions, chronic lumbar muscle strain, sciatica, chronic knee arthritis, heel pain, etc.
