Peripheral Vascular Surgery Department
The Department of Peripheral Vascular Surgery at the Xiangfang Campus of Heilongjiang Provincial Hospital was established in 1998. It was the earliest department in Heilongjiang Province to independently establish a peripheral vascular surgery ward. After nearly 30 years of development, the department has accumulated extensive experience in the treatment of vascular surgical diseases involving the arteries and veins of the extremities, the thoracic aorta, the abdominal aorta, the lymphatic system, and other areas. The department has strong technical capabilities in peripheral vascular surgery, ranks among the leading departments in the province, and enjoys a high level of social recognition.
Doctors:
There are currently 4 doctors, including 1 Doctor of Medicine, 2 Master of Medicine degree holders, 1 chief physician, 1 deputy chief physician, and 2 attending physicians.
The team’s scientific research and honors:
The team has received 1 Science and Technology Progress Award from the Provincial Science and Technology Commission, undertaken 2 key research projects approved by the Provincial Science and Technology Commission, received 2 Science and Technology Progress Awards from the Heilongjiang Provincial Health Department, received 8 Medical and Health New Technology Application Awards from the Heilongjiang Provincial Health Commission, and obtained 9 national patents. It has applied for 2 national-level scientific research projects, received 2 research projects from the Heilongjiang Provincial Health Commission, received 1 Heilongjiang Provincial Traditional Chinese Medicine scientific research project, and published many SCI articles and papers in core journals. In 2010, it was designated a key department by the Heilongjiang Provincial Health Department. The department is the Heilongjiang Province Ulcer Treatment (Training) Base of the Burn Professional Committee of the Chinese Association of Integrative Medicine. It is also a specialty department for peripheral vascular diseases of Heilongjiang Provincial Hospital and a model department for the hospital’s venous thromboembolism prevention and control system.
The team’s distinctive medical technologies:
In 1999, it pioneered catheter electrocoagulation for the treatment of lower-extremity superficial varicose veins in the three northeastern provinces.
In 2000, drawing on the theory and practice of peripheral vascular thrombolysis in advanced countries and beginning with the treatment of deep venous thrombosis, it applied intravascular ultrasound thrombolysis technology to the treatment of deep venous thrombosis and successfully completed the world’s first intravascular ultrasound thrombolysis operation inside a deep vein.
In 2001, the research group referred to the theory and practice of bone vascular regeneration developed by foreign scholars and was the first in Asia to carry out tibial separation vascular regeneration treatment for ischemic diseases of the lower extremities. The surgical success rate reached 97%, treating an intractable medical condition and preserving the patient’s limb, which attracted the attention of relevant experts in China and abroad.
In 2003, it was the first in China to carry out catheter vibration thrombolysis for lower-extremity deep venous thrombosis.
In 2004, it was the first in China to carry out whole-bone-marrow blood stem cell transplantation + tibial separation + ultrasound ablation for thromboangiitis obliterans, further improving the surgical success rate for thromboangiitis obliterans.
In 2009, it was the first in China to carry out cutting-balloon treatment for lower-extremity arterial occlusion.
In 2011, it was the first in China to carry out the new technique of percutaneous venous thrombectomy.
In 2012, it was the first in China to carry out jet thrombolysis for arterial and venous thrombosis. The cutting-balloon dilation technique and jet thrombolysis technique have been presented repeatedly as special lectures at national conferences and promoted in many hospitals in China.
In 2015, it began performing carotid endarterectomy. In 2016, it began research on the treatment of vascular ulcers of the lower extremities using wet regeneration technology.
In 2018, it began performing drug-coated balloon angioplasty for lower-extremity arteriosclerotic occlusive disease and diabetic foot.
In 2019, it held a leading position within the province in the field of endovascular interventional treatment of abdominal aortic aneurysms.
In 2020, it was the first in the province to carry out endovascular treatment of aortoiliac occlusion in a very elderly patient with mirror-image anatomy.
The department currently ranks at an advanced national level in minimally invasive endovascular angioplasty for lower-extremity arteriosclerotic occlusive disease; peripheral arterial thrombectomy, endarterectomy, and mechanical thrombus removal; the field of carotid artery diseases; mechanical vascular clearance for lower-extremity deep venous thrombosis; stent treatment of venous stenosis; and minimally invasive radiofrequency surgery for lower-extremity varicose veins. The department holds a leading position within the province in the treatment of the thoracic aorta, abdominal aorta, and aortoiliac occlusion. It was the first in the province to carry out cutting-balloon and Chocolate-balloon treatment for refractory ischemic diseases of the lower-extremity arteries, and its technology has consistently remained at the forefront nationally.
