Respiratory Medicine Department

The Department of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine (Respiratory Medicine) of Heilongjiang Provincial Hospital, located on the 4th floor of Inpatient Building No. 2 at No. 82 Zhongshan Road, Xiangfang District, Harbin, is a key department of the hospital with considerable strength and distinctive features. The department has successively received numerous prestigious honors, including “National Clinical Research Center for Respiratory Diseases,” “Interstitial Lung Disease Collaboration Group of the Respiratory Specialty Medical Consortium of China-Japan Friendship Hospital,” “Assistance Unit of the Heilongjiang Respiratory Specialty Medical Consortium,” “Unit Meeting the Standards for Standardized Development of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine (PCCM),” and “Heilongjiang Provincial Clinical Key Specialty,” fully demonstrating its outstanding medical standards and professional strength.

The department’s scale continues to expand. In addition to general wards, it also has a critical-care observation room, a sleep apnea–hypopnea monitoring and treatment room, a pulmonary rehabilitation room, an allergy room, a pulmonary function testing room, and an electronic fiberoptic bronchoscopy room, among others, providing patients with comprehensive spaces for diagnosis and treatment.

In the diagnosis and treatment of pulmonary infectious diseases, bronchial asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, interstitial lung diseases, pulmonary tumors, and difficult and complex respiratory diseases, the department is at a leading level within the province. In recent years, it has received multiple Science and Technology Progress Awards and New Technology Awards from the Provincial Health Department, and has been awarded the title of Advanced Nursing Ward on many occasions.

The department has prominent advantages in the following diagnostic and treatment areas:

- In 2018, it successfully passed the national-level evaluation for standardized development of the Department of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine (PCCM), and it regularly passes re-evaluation;

- It has established a chronic cough clinic and a smoking cessation clinic to provide patients with standardized diagnosis and treatment and professional guidance, while also conducting health education and out-of-hospital follow-up guidance through the WeChat platform;

- It assisted in establishing the Heilongjiang Branch of the Zhang Guozhen Pulmonary Nodule Diagnosis and Treatment Center and undertakes outpatient work involving multidisciplinary consultation, diagnosis, and treatment of tiny pulmonary nodules;

- It carries out standardized and precision diagnosis and treatment of pulmonary tumors and is proficient in performing CT-guided percutaneous lung biopsy;

- It has established a respiratory allergy (allergic reaction) room, provides standardized diagnosis and treatment of allergic diseases, and carries out safe and effective desensitization therapy;

- It carries out screening and standardized diagnosis and treatment of sleep apnea–hypopnea syndrome;

- It is proficient in standardized operating techniques for electronic fiberoptic bronchoscopy, including portable bronchoscopy;

- It has achieved notable results in the standardized diagnosis and treatment of interstitial lung diseases, with particularly abundant achievements in scientific research;

It has the qualifications and capabilities to conduct clinical drug trials and can provide patients who need them with cutting-edge treatment options.
