Transfusion Medicine

The Department of Blood Transfusion of Heilongjiang Provincial Hospital was established in 1956 and currently has 11 professional and technical staff members, including two with senior professional titles, five with intermediate titles, and four with junior titles.

The Department of Blood Transfusion is responsible for supplying, testing, and managing the quality of clinical blood used throughout the hospital. It is equipped with advanced dedicated blood-storage refrigerators, low-temperature freezers, constant-temperature platelet agitators, digital constant-temperature water baths, plasma thawing machines, thromboelastographs, fully automated blood-group analyzers, autologous blood-recovery machines, and other equipment. A cold-chain temperature-control system ensures that all blood components are stored safely under strict temperature monitoring. A scientifically designed inventory early-warning mechanism is also implemented to ensure the supply of blood for clinical emergencies.

The department comprehensively performs ABO and RhD blood-group typing, irregular-antibody screening and identification, crossmatching tests (including the saline, polybrene, and microcolumn gel-card methods), difficult blood-group identification and difficult crossmatching, thromboelastography tests, autologous transfusion, and other procedures. It actively participates in clinical transfusion therapy, provides professional transfusion consultation, guides scientific and rational clinical blood use, promotes blood-conservation techniques such as component transfusion and autologous transfusion, and develops individualized transfusion plans. It has established and operates a comprehensive transfusion-quality management system and strictly implements relevant national laws, regulations, and industry standards. Clinical blood use is regularly inspected, evaluated, and fed back to ensure the safety and effectiveness of the transfusion process and continuously improve rational blood use throughout the hospital.
