Thoracic Surgery
The thoracic surgery team consists of 14 physicians: 3 chief physicians, 4 deputy chief physicians, 4 attending physicians, and 4 resident physicians, including Director Chen Qixun of the Department of Thoracic Surgery at Zhejiang Cancer Hospital, a Qianjiang Specially Appointed Expert, who provides outpatient consultations and surgical guidance every month. Our department specializes in the surgical treatment of thoracic tumors and tuberculosis, with a focus on specialized treatments for various benign and malignant lung tumors, esophageal cancer, complex empyema, bronchopleural fistula, destroyed lung, constrictive pericarditis, massive hemoptysis, and other conditions. For patients after major surgery, we combine distinctive treatments such as external traditional Chinese medicine therapies and oral Chinese herbal medicine, bringing into play the strengths of integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine to accelerate recovery, reduce postoperative complications, alleviate patients' suffering and risks, and improve therapeutic efficacy. The comprehensive treatment model of lung cancer surgery + traditional Chinese medicine and Chinese herbal medicine has been established in our department, greatly improving the quality of life of the many patients with lung cancer and extending their survival. The widespread application of minimally invasive surgical techniques, including thoracoscopy, mediastinoscopy, and interventional treatment, has become a highlight of our department. Surgery for early peripheral lung cancer can be completed using minimally invasive techniques in 90% of cases, and single-port thoracoscopic radical lung cancer surgery has become one of our department's routine surgical procedures. A unique technique of resecting a destroyed lung after interventional embolization of regional blood vessels has solved the problem of massive intraoperative bleeding in this field and greatly reduced surgical risk. For advanced and locally advanced malignant lung tumors, interventional embolization chemotherapy is used; while ensuring the efficacy of systemic medication, it increases the tumor-killing effect of chemotherapeutic drugs on the local tumor to achieve better treatment outcomes. Department specialties: minimally invasive surgical treatment of thoracic tumors; extended resection for locally advanced lung cancer; interventional treatment of massive hemoptysis; immunotherapy and targeted therapy for lung cancer; diagnosis, differential diagnosis, and treatment of small pulmonary nodules; and other specialties. Team honors: Zhejiang Anti-Cancer Association Integrated Lung Cancer Diagnosis and Treatment Center; Chinese Thoracic Surgery ERAS Demonstration Program; Enhanced Recovery After Surgery Demonstration Ward; High-Skilled Talent (Model Worker) Innovation Studio; Chairing Unit of the Zhejiang Regional Alliance of the China Chest Wall Alliance; Council Member Unit of the China Bleeding Center Alliance; Member Unit of the Respiratory Interventional Radiology Club.
