In 1982, it began general screening for strabismus and amblyopia; in 1986, it formally established a strabismus and amblyopia ocular-muscle specialty, becoming one of the earliest hospitals in Hangzhou to provide this specialty. It carries out general screening, selection, and surgical treatment for strabismus and amblyopia, enabling large numbers of children to achieve recovery in visual function and appearance. At present, in ocular motility and refraction, it has developed a complete, standardized, and effective set of methods ranging from examination and diagnosis to eyeglass fitting, drug treatment, instrument-based treatment, surgical treatment, and the currently relatively advanced examination, training, and treatment of amblyopia under computer-software guidance.
