Emergency Department
The Emergency Department is a department with strong capabilities: established in 1976, it was one of the earliest independently established departments in the province. It currently has 29 emergency medicine specialist physicians, including 2 chief physicians, 8 associate chief physicians, 1 chief nurse, and 1 associate chief nurse; 17 hold a master’s degree or higher, and 3 are currently enrolled in graduate programs, making the hospital one of the hospitals in Zhejiang Province with the largest number of emergency medicine specialist physicians. The Emergency Department has a resuscitation room, a monitoring room, emergency wards, and consultation rooms for the various specialties. It currently operates an integrated model combining prehospital emergency care, in-hospital emergency care, and emergency monitoring, and has formed a complete emergency medical rescue service system (EMSS). It is Hangzhou’s center for emergency medical care, teaching, and training, as well as a backbone hospital for emergency medical care, teaching, and training in Zhejiang Province. The Emergency Department is trusted by patients: its level of care in cardiopulmonary resuscitation, various types of shock, coma, acute poisoning, multiple organ dysfunction, and other conditions is leading in the province. In recent years, it has received approximately 100,000 patient visits annually, performed rescue treatment in more than 6,000 cases involving critically ill patients, and recorded more than 700 inpatient admissions to the emergency wards each year; the overall rescue success rate has reached at least 95%, bringing many patients back from the brink of death and earning it a good reputation among patients. The Emergency Department also undertakes charity outpatient services and public-benefit inpatient wards during holidays and at night; its convenient and effective “green channel” provides a strong guarantee for rescuing acutely and critically ill patients. The Emergency Department is a department with a deep cultural heritage: after more than 30 years of building and accumulating departmental culture, it has a profound cultural foundation, its cultural connotations have continued to develop, and it has formed a distinctive emergency culture whose essence is “speed, accuracy, efficiency, and safety.” The Emergency Department is a department with excellent team spirit; relying on their outstanding emergency procedural skills and service quality, its medical and nursing staff provide assurance for the successful treatment of acutely and critically ill patients. The Emergency Department is a department that continually strives forward: as the research directions of the discipline of emergency medicine have become increasingly clear, in recent years it has actively carried out research and teaching while completing its emergency clinical work, established a teaching and research section of emergency medicine, applied for research projects every year, and published at least 5 papers annually in Level II or higher journals. Training in prehospital emergency-care knowledge is provided, and emergency medical services are extended to communities. Expert clinic: Tuesday morning.
