Ophthalmology
Since its establishment, the Department of Ophthalmology of Guangzhou Women and Children's Medical Center has been committed to the treatment of pediatric eye diseases and eye care. After decades of development, it has established a complete set of efficient and accurate specialized diagnostic and treatment techniques for pediatric eye diseases, and is now one of the most professional institutions for the diagnosis and treatment of pediatric eye diseases in South China and even nationwide. It has reached an advanced domestic level in major areas of pediatric ophthalmology, including the treatment of pediatric strabismus, amblyopia, ocular hemangiomas, ocular malformations, cataracts, and glaucoma, as well as screening and early intervention for retinopathy of prematurity. It is currently equipped with UBM, OCT, the RetCam wide-field pediatric fundus imaging system, the IOL Master biometer, a handheld fundus camera, an A/B ultrasound machine, and an iCare tonometer, among other equipment. In 2007, it cooperated with ORBIS International to establish the “Guangzhou Pediatric Eye Disease Prevention and Treatment Center.” It has gradually established a pediatric eye disease prevention and treatment center based in Guangzhou, serving South China and extending nationwide, providing professional and advanced medical services for a large number of children with complex eye diseases. Specialty Medical Care Introduction to the screening and diagnosis and treatment program for fundus diseases in premature infants and young children: A fundus screening and diagnosis and treatment system for premature infants covering South China has been established in the Guangzhou area, greatly reducing blindness caused by retinopathy of prematurity. Advantages: A comprehensive screening and treatment system for retinopathy of prematurity has been established, and the establishment of a neonatal eye disease screening alliance was led. Computer-assisted objective quantitative diagnosis and surgical treatment of strabismus Introduction to the program: Artificial intelligence is used to measure the degree of strabismus in infants and young children with strabismus, enabling precise strabismus surgery. Advantages: The postoperative strabismus correction results in children are satisfactory, and the internet can also be used to provide remote diagnosis and treatment and follow-up for patients. Ultrasound- and infrared imaging-guided personalized surgery and postoperative evaluation technology for congenital cataracts Introduction to the program: Ultrasound imaging and infrared imaging technologies are used to screen and evaluate congenital cataracts. Advantages: The detection instrument developed with independent intellectual property rights is simple to operate; combined with artificial intelligence technology, it can detect neonatal cataracts at an early stage, accurately perform preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative evaluations, and enable precise surgery.
