The Department of Internal Medicine of Guangzhou United Family Hospital is composed of our full-time team of internal medicine specialists and a team of part-time specialists, and is supported by a nursing team fluent in foreign languages and experienced in professional nursing care. Adhering to JCI standards, using Evidence-Based Medicine as our guiding principle, and following the biopsychosocial medical model, we are committed to providing comprehensive, patient-centered outpatient and inpatient medical services for adults. At present, the Department of Internal Medicine provides diagnosis and treatment in the following specialties: gastroenterology, cardiology, pulmonology, endocrinology, neurology, rheumatology and immunology, hematology, nephrology, and nutritional counseling, among others. It also provides examinations and treatment including painless gastroscopy and colonoscopy (including painless endoscopic ultrasonography EUS and ERCP), ambulatory electrocardiography, ambulatory blood pressure monitoring, echocardiography, pulmonary function testing, bone mineral density testing, electroencephalography, and other specialized examinations and treatments, delivering high-quality, comprehensive diagnostic and treatment services for common and frequently occurring diseases in these specialties, as well as some difficult and complex conditions. Space for an intensive care unit (ICU) and an oncology center (including a radiotherapy center) was reserved in Phase I of the hospital’s construction; intensive care and radiotherapy and chemotherapy for cancer will be introduced progressively in the future. The Department also provides multidisciplinary consultations, domestic and international teleconsultations, chronic disease management, cancer screening, outpatient physical examinations for individuals or organizations, one-day inpatient physical examinations, and special medical care services. Guangzhou United Family Hospital has established cooperation agreements with multiple well-known Grade III Class A hospitals and specialty hospitals in Guangzhou. If your condition requires evaluation and treatment by an outside specialist, the Department’s physicians can also coordinate your referral. The Department of Internal Medicine is an important component of Guangzhou United Family Hospital’s educational base. It currently also undertakes medical education activities within the United Family Healthcare system, including internships for international medical students, standardized training for attending physicians, and CME.
