Laboratory Center

The Laboratory Center of Guangzhou United Family Hospital consists of the Pathology Department, Laboratory Department, and Blood Bank, and provides 24-hour service year-round. We can perform a wide range of tests, including hematology, immunology, chemistry, microbiology, body fluids, pathology, molecular biology (PCR), and a series of other tests, and are committed to providing accurate and rapid test results. Our Clinician Huang Yujun Director of the Laboratory Department Laboratory Department Our laboratory is equipped with high-quality automated equipment. All laboratory staff are professionally certified and have extensive laboratory work experience, and all staff have experience working in other large hospitals. We strictly comply with domestic and international clinical laboratory regulations and standards. From 2019 to 2023, we participated in national and provincial inter-laboratory quality assessment programs, and all participating items received excellent ratings. Moreover, we achieved excellent results every year in the "Guangzhou HIV Testing Laboratory Quality Assessment" and achieved excellent results in the "Guangzhou STD Laboratory Quality Assessment". One person received the "First Prize in the Individual Morphology Competition of the Cell Morphology Diagnosis Branch of the Guangzhou Medical Association". In December 2020, we obtained the certificate of passing the review for the "Clinical Gene Amplification Testing Laboratory", thereby passing the PCR laboratory review. In 2021 and 2022, we were the only laboratory in Haizhu District to receive full marks in the "Guangzhou STD Laboratory Quality Assessment" for 2 consecutive years. During the COVID-19 period, we were the designated nucleic acid testing service provider for outbound travel by the Consulate of Japan. In 2021, the Laboratory Department received zero deductions in the AOC chapter of the JCI assessment. Our Laboratory Department can perform more than 600 types of tests and can provide results as quickly as possible. Services available include, but are not limited to: Routine testing of blood and body fluid samples Hematology analysis Routine body fluid analysis Immunoassay Biochemical analysis Microbiological analysis Toxicology and therapeutic drug monitoring (external partner laboratory) Histopathology (external partner laboratory) Our laboratory participates every year in national or provincial inter-laboratory quality assessment proficiency testing, thereby ensuring that test results remain consistent with those of other international laboratories. We also maintain contact with other high-level laboratories in mainland China, enabling us to provide diversified testing services, such as outsourced testing services for toxicology testing, genetic testing, rare diseases, paternity testing, etc., and provide compliant bilingual reports. Blood Bank Our Blood Bank was established with approval after assessment by the Guangzhou Blood Center. We have a clinical blood bank that stores fresh blood, enabling us to meet routine and emergency transfusion needs. Before storage, all blood from donors undergoes screening for infectious diseases, ensuring its safety and reliability. Services available include, but are not limited to: Blood storage and crossmatching Difficult blood group identification Identification of hemolytic disease of the newborn Platelet antibody testing Storage autologous blood transfusion for rare blood groups Autologous blood recovery technology Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) We conduct strict preoperative transfusion risk assessments for every patient and prepare blood in advance for high-risk individuals. We have successfully completed multiple autologous transfusion cases (including stored, acute normovolemic hemodilution, and intraoperative blood salvage procedures, all of which can be performed). In 2020, we launched the "Dad Blood Donation Plan"; we were the third institution in Guangzhou to participate in the plan, helping ensure safe deliveries for mothers. We meet the requirements for the platelet-rich plasma (PRP) program and can provide specialized bedside platelet-rich plasma services. We organize voluntary blood donation activities 2 times a year and rank first in per-capita blood donation among private hospitals in Guangzhou. In 2019, we established the "Rare Blood Type Home" and jointly held a "Rare Blood Type Public Welfare Lecture" with the Guangzhou Rare Blood Type Volunteer Association. The Guangzhou Blood Center highly recognizes our hospital's standardized management of the Blood Bank and its active implementation of autologous transfusion, voluntary blood donation activities, and rare blood type care activities. Pathology Department The Pathology Department can perform intraoperative rapid frozen section examination, cervical liquid-based thin-layer cytology testing (TCT), fine-needle aspiration cytopathology, histopathological examination (including core-needle biopsy), immunohistochemical and special staining, molecular pathology (genetic testing, fluorescence in situ hybridization technology, etc.), tissue microarrays, domestic consultations, and overseas remote consultation services.
