The Department of Pharmacy team at Guangzhou United Family Hospital comprises a group of outstanding pharmaceutical professionals with overseas educational backgrounds and work experience at renowned local Grade III Class A hospitals. They regularly participate in training at home and abroad, keep abreast of the forefront of developments in pharmaceutical sciences, provide patients with meticulous pharmaceutical services, and ensure medication safety. While ensuring medication safety, we are committed to improving the healthcare experience. Every prescription issued by a doctor undergoes prospective review by a pharmacist to safeguard patients' medication use; when providing medicines to patients, pharmacists also provide medication information and related counseling. We use an electronic prescription management system, which enables us to maintain complete medication records for patients and promptly identify medication-safety information such as drug allergies and drug interactions. Providing patients with counseling on how to use medicines is an important part of the pharmacy's work. Our pharmacists can explain in detail how to use an inhaler and what effects your medicines may have, and answer your questions about your treatment together with your doctor. As part of our paperless information-delivery approach adopted to protect the environment, much of the information we provide is delivered to you verbally face to face. All medicines we dispense are accompanied by labels and the doctor's instructions; if you request it, we can also provide additional copies of the materials. Hong Kong–Macao Medicines and Medical Devices Connect Through official rounds of selection and review, Guangzhou United Family Hospital stood out among the many medical institutions in Guangdong Province and formally became, on July 28, 2021, one of the five medical institutions designated in the first batch of "Hong Kong–Macao Medicines and Medical Devices Connect", enabling the simultaneous introduction of international medicines and medical devices marketed in Hong Kong and Macao, and allowing clients to use imported originator medicines and biologics. Since then, patients no longer need to wait anxiously or travel far abroad; they can use at Guangzhou United Family Hospital innovative medicines and medical devices that have been marketed in Hong Kong and Macao but are not yet accessible in mainland China! With the help of "Hong Kong–Macao Medicines and Medical Devices Connect", our hospital has so far successfully obtained approval for 11 types of medicines and 16 approval documents, and has served patients on more than 1,000 occasions. The ultimate goal of Guangzhou United Family Hospital's Medicines and Medical Devices Connect project is to benefit patients, with zero mark-up on medicines. In addition to the 11 medicines above, we are continuing to apply for high-quality innovative medicines and medical devices not yet marketed in mainland China, in the hope of benefiting more and more patients and enabling them to use new international medicines and advanced therapies as soon as possible. In the future, with the support of the "Hong Kong–Macao Medicines and Medical Devices Connect" policy, Guangzhou United Family Hospital will continue to start from patients' needs, ensure that patients obtain the high-quality innovative medicines and medical devices from Hong Kong and Macao that are most suitable for them in the shortest possible time, rapidly and conveniently share the results of global pharmaceutical innovation, and enable patients to achieve satisfactory treatment outcomes.
