Haematology
Tel: 020-89168092 Address: 14th Floor, Building 2. Department profile: The Hematology Department has 3 physicians with senior professional titles and 3 with intermediate titles, including 2 with doctoral degrees and 3 with master's degrees. The department comprises three parts: a general ward, a bone marrow transplant ward and a hematology laboratory, with 35 beds, including 3 laminar-airflow beds and 2 sterile beds. Panorama of the laminar-flow unit. The department's main focus is the treatment of malignant hematological diseases such as refractory leukemia, myelodysplastic syndrome, lymphoma and multiple myeloma (including chemotherapy, hematopoietic stem cell transplantation and immunotherapy), as well as research on the diagnosis and treatment of aplastic anemia, thrombocytopenic purpura and hemolytic anemia. Leukemia is typed according to the international MICM standard, enabling individualized treatment, and the remission rate of newly diagnosed leukemia exceeds 80%. Quantitative PCR is used to diagnose minimal residual disease, guiding clinical treatment and judging prognosis, which has greatly reduced the blindness of treatment as well as treatment costs and relapse rates. Since 1996 the department has performed hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (including bone marrow transplantation, cord blood transplantation and peripheral blood stem cell transplantation) for various refractory hematological diseases and chemotherapy-sensitive solid tumors, achieving good results and accumulating rich experience, and has won the trust of numerous patients with blood diseases. In 2005 it performed China's first allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation in a child with mucopolysaccharidosis, which was successful. Our hematology department is a hematopoietic stem cell blood sample collection site of the China Marrow Donor Program. Diseases treated: ⑴ malignant hematological diseases (such as acute and chronic leukemias of all types, lymphoma, multiple myeloma, myelodysplastic syndrome, paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria, malignant histiocytosis, etc.); ⑵ various anemias (such as aplastic anemia, autoimmune hemolytic anemia, thalassemia, etc.); ⑶ bleeding disorders (such as thrombocytopenic purpura, hemophilia, Henoch-Schönlein purpura, disseminated intravascular coagulation, etc.); ⑷ other blood diseases such as polycythemia vera, thrombocythemia and myelofibrosis; ⑸ autoimmune diseases such as systemic lupus erythematosus, scleroderma and rheumatoid arthritis; ⑹ chemotherapy-sensitive tumors such as breast cancer, nasopharyngeal carcinoma, small cell lung cancer, tumors of the reproductive system, osteosarcoma and neuroblastoma. Cryopreserved cells. The hematology laboratory is equipped with multiple microscopes, a blood cell morphology image analysis system, flow cytometers, coagulation analyzers, ELISA microplate readers, controlled-rate freezers, PCR instruments, gel imaging analysis systems, a cell culture room, chromosome fluorescence in situ hybridization systems, ultra-low-temperature freezers, low-temperature circulating baths, low-temperature high-speed centrifuges and various conventional equipment, with a total value of nearly 2 million yuan. It can currently perform all cytological morphology, cellular immunology and molecular biology tests for hematological diseases, as well as tests for coagulation disorders, platelet antibody testing, cytokine testing and hematopoietic stem cell cryopreservation. All laboratory instruments and equipment are fully open to external users on a paid and cooperative basis. Tests already offered by the hematology laboratory with its advanced equipment: 1. cytomorphological examination and immunohistochemistry; 2. flow cytometry: leukemia immunophenotyping, immunotyping of lymphoma and myeloma cells, detection of minimal residual leukemia, cytokine assays (CBA), CD34+ cell counting, T-cell subset analysis, PNH cell analysis, cell cycle analysis, apoptosis detection, Treg cell detection; 3. fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) for specific chromosomal abnormalities of hematological malignancies; 4. RT-PCR detection of leukemia fusion genes; 5. testing for coagulation and bleeding abnormalities; 6. detection of serum EPO, IFN-γ and tumor necrosis factor levels; 7. platelet autoantibody testing and platelet membrane granule protein-140 testing; 8. cryopreservation of hematopoietic stem cells and blood analysis. Department tel: 020-89168092; department head's tel: 020-89168162 (office). Hospital address: No. 1 Shiliugang Road, Guangzhou; postcode: 510317. Directions: from Guangzhou Railway Station take the metro, or bus 203, get off at Chigang Station and the hospital is right there; from Guangzhou East Railway Station take bus 130 to Zhuying Station, then transfer to bus 14, 252, 189 or 37 to Chigang Station, which is right at the hospital.
