Wound Regeneration and Repair Surgery (chronic wounds/diabetic foot/tophi/burns and scalds) Address: 7th floor, Building 3, Guangdong Second Provincial General Hospital. Tel.: 020-89168102 / 020-68087 【Department Introduction】Guangdong Second Provincial General Hospital is a large, comprehensive tertiary Grade A hospital, and is also the country’s first provincial emergency hospital, a national standardized residency-training base, and a high-level hospital in Guangdong Province. The hospital’s orthopedics department is a national key clinical specialty. Wound Regeneration and Repair Surgery is one of the core departments of our Diabetic Foot Limb-Salvage Treatment Center and the Haizhu District Diabetes Prevention and Control Center in Guangzhou. It is an important specialty within the Orthopedics Medical Division focusing on the clinical diagnosis and treatment of various refractory, complex and other special wounds. The department focuses on comprehensively applying surgery, biomaterials, cell therapy and traditional Chinese medicine to promote wound regeneration and healing and restore tissue structure and function. It has four physicians, including two senior specialists (one chief physician and one deputy chief physician), one doctoral supervisor, one master’s supervisor, one postdoctoral fellow and three master’s graduates. It is a key specialty integrating medical care, education and research, and is mainly devoted to clinical diagnosis, treatment and basic research on regeneration and repair of refractory wounds. It is particularly experienced in comprehensive treatment of complex wounds, diabetic-foot infection and limb salvage for necrotic wounds. Under Professor Qi Yong’s leadership and guidance, the latest improved tibial transverse bone transport technique for promoting regeneration of the lower-limb microvascular system is used to treat diabetic foot, greatly improving healing and limb-salvage rates in diabetic foot with refractory wounds. For pressure sores; regeneration, repair and sequential treatment of burn wounds; benign and malignant surface tumors; traumatic skin and soft-tissue defects; and bone and soft-tissue defects caused by chronic osteomyelitis infection, the department uses integrated Chinese and Western medicine: regenerative medicine (including cell therapy and tissue-engineered skin), biomaterials, physical therapy and surgical repair combined with traditional Chinese techniques (including acupuncture, moxibustion, floating acupuncture, needle-knife therapy, and oral and external Chinese medicines). Personalized and precise treatment plans are provided for patients with acute and chronic wound diseases to improve healing and limb-salvage rates and enhance survival and quality of life. Scope of diagnosis and treatment: 1. Diabetic foot 2. Pressure sores 3. Tophi 4. Burns and scalds caused by various factors 5. All types of acute and chronic wounds and acute and chronic osteomyelitis 6. All types of complex malignant ulcers 【Team Members】 Sun Hongtao: Head of Wound Regeneration and Repair Surgery; chief physician; PhD in orthopedics; postdoctoral fellow in orthopedic traumatology; master’s and doctoral supervisor; former director of Orthopedics and director of Joint Orthopedics.
