Telephone: 020-89169280 Address: 20th Floor, Building 3 Department Introduction The Department of Cardiovascular Medicine III of Guangdong Second People's Hospital was established with cutting-edge technology, first-rate talent, and high-quality services. It is a positive and collaborative team with experienced expert professors and well-trained nursing staff. Guided by the principle of “Inspiring youth and serving wholeheartedly,” it is committed to providing patients with high-quality, efficient, high-end medical services. The ward area is decorated and equipped according to star-rated standards, creating a warm and elegant environment. The department adheres to the concept of “high-end facilities, high-quality services, and ordinary-ward charges,” earning unanimous praise from patients. I. Excellent medical team and high-end medical equipment Under the leadership of Director Zhao Yahong, the department has an experienced and outstanding medical and nursing team, currently comprising 2 chief physicians, 3 deputy chief physicians, 3 senior attending physicians, and 1 resident physician; among them are 3 doctors (including postdoctoral fellows) and 6 master's degree holders, all with many years of clinical experience and experience in advanced training at top domestic hospitals or study abroad. All medical and nursing staff of the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine III Director Zhao Yahong trained at Harvard University The Department of Cardiovascular Medicine III of Guangdong Second People's Hospital currently has 45 ordinary beds and 6 intensive care beds, including 3 VIP rooms, meeting the needs of different groups of people. It is equipped with imported central monitoring systems, digital subtraction angiography equipment, intra-aortic balloon pumps, high-end ventilators, a three-dimensional intracardiac electrophysiological mapping system, transesophageal electrophysiology equipment, temporary pacemakers, treadmill exercise ECG machines, 24-hour ambulatory ECG monitors, 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitors, and other advanced equipment. Comfortable wards of the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine III II. Advanced medical technologies The Department of Cardiovascular Medicine III of Guangdong Second People's Hospital admits and treats patients with common, difficult, and critical cardiovascular diseases, including coronary heart disease, arrhythmia, heart failure, rheumatic heart disease, cardiomyopathy, myocarditis, pericarditis, endocarditis, valvular heart disease, and hypertension. Over the years, the department's techniques, including interventional treatment of coronary lesions, interventional treatment of major arteries, interventional treatment of arrhythmias, artificial cardiac pacing, and device therapy for heart failure, have reached an advanced level in China. 1. Interventional treatment of coronary lesions The number of coronary interventions performed by our department has increased rapidly year by year. To improve patient comfort, coronary angiography, coronary balloon dilation angioplasty, and coronary stent implantation are routinely performed through the radial artery. Through diagnostic and treatment techniques such as coronary rotational atherectomy and intravascular ultrasound, the department has extensive clinical experience in diagnosing and treating difficult and complex cases, including unprotected left main coronary artery lesions, bifurcation lesions, multivessel lesions, calcified lesions, chronic total occlusion lesions, and graft-vessel lesions. 2. Interventional treatment of major arteries Our department performs endovascular exclusion of aortic dissection and aortic aneurysms through vascular puncture, and uses the “chimney” technique to treat some difficult cases of aortic dissection, with an operative success rate of over 90%. Minimally invasive treatment methods reduce patients’ pain, shorten bed-rest time and hospital stays, and lower hospitalization costs. 3. Interventional treatment of arrhythmias Our department performs transesophageal electrophysiological examinations, intracardiac electrophysiological examinations, and radiofrequency ablation. Using two-dimensional and three-dimensional cardiac electrophysiological mapping technology, radiofrequency ablation is performed for arrhythmias including atrioventricular nodal reentrant and atrioventricular reentrant tachycardia, atrial tachycardia, atrial flutter, atrial fibrillation, frequent premature ventricular contractions, and ventricular tachycardia. The success rate is high, reaching an advanced level in China. For patients with paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia who cannot undergo interventional surgery because of pregnancy or other circumstances, our department uses transesophageal overdrive pacing suppression therapy to safeguard expectant mothers. 4. Artificial cardiac pacing For pacemaker implantation, our department selects different pacemaker models according to patients’ conditions. For patients with bradyarrhythmia, it selects atrial demand pacemakers (AAI), ventricular demand pacemakers (VVI), dual-chamber pacemakers (VDD, AAI, DDD), and rate-adaptive pacemakers (VVIR, AAIR, DDDR), among others. For patients at high risk of sudden death, such as those with ventricular tachycardia or ventricular fibrillation, implantation of an implantable cardiac defibrillator (ICD) is selected. Patients who have undergone pacemaker implantation in our department receive regular follow-up and tracking, as well as pacemaker program-control testing, and an individualized operating mode is set for each patient. Patients may also undergo MRI examinations after surgery. 5. Device therapy for heart failure For patients with chronic heart failure whose clinical symptoms do not improve significantly despite standardized drug treatment, our department performs cardiac resynchronization therapy for chronic heart failure (CRT), significantly improving quality of life and reducing mortality. CRT-D, which combines the functions of CRT and ICD, can further improve the survival prospects of patients at high risk of sudden cardiac death. 6. Other In addition to the medical technologies mentioned above, our department also performs closure procedures for congenital heart diseases such as patent ductus arteriosus, atrial septal defects, and ventricular septal defects, as well as renal artery angiography, balloon dilation angioplasty, and stent implantation, serving patients wholeheartedly with excellent medical skills. III. Fighters on the brink of death and exemplars of high-quality service Our department’s ability to treat emergency and critically ill patients has reached a leading level in China. An acute chest pain diagnosis and treatment team has been established in the department, providing a green channel around the clock for patients with acute myocardial infarction. Our department once successfully treated an 82-year-old patient with acute myocardial infarction complicated by cardiogenic shock. With the assistance of high-end equipment such as an intra-aortic balloon pump and ventilator, the patient underwent complete revascularization of difficult coronary lesions through PCI and was discharged after recovery. More recently, our department successfully rescued an 85-year-old patient with massive pulmonary embolism. Under life-support treatment including high-dose vasopressors, endotracheal intubation, and ventilator-assisted ventilation, the patient received individualized drug thrombolysis and was discharged after recovery. Racing against time to save lives from the brink of death is the greatest honor of all the medical and nursing staff of the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine III. High-quality service is also always kept in the hearts of our medical and nursing staff. Our department has consistently provided high-quality service, integrating the concept of “patient-centeredness” into high-quality nursing care. During hospitalization, medical and nursing staff patiently explain any questions and difficulties patients may have, warming their hearts through every small act and earning praise from patients and their families. Several doctors from our department have been named hospital exemplars of high-quality service, and several nurses have been named star nurses. Our department established a hospital-level Youth Civilization Unit, and all members of the department take the initiative and actively participate in free medical consultations and volunteer services.
