Telephone: 020-89168092 Address: Building 2, 14th floor Department Introduction The Department of Hematology currently has 3 senior-level professionals and 3 mid-level professionals, including 2 PhD holders and 3 master's degree holders. The department consists of a general ward, a bone marrow transplant ward, and a hematology laboratory. It has 35 beds, including 3 laminar-airflow beds and 2 sterile beds. Panoramic view of the laminar-flow chamber The department's main focus is the treatment of refractory leukemia, myelodysplastic syndromes, lymphoma, multiple myeloma, and other malignant hematologic diseases (including chemotherapy, hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, and immunotherapy), as well as research into the diagnosis and treatment of aplastic anemia, thrombocytopenic purpura, and hemolytic anemia. For leukemia, the department uses the international-standard MICM classification and has achieved individualized treatment, bringing the remission rate for newly treated leukemia to over 80%. Quantitative PCR is used to diagnose minimal residual disease, guide clinical treatment, and assess prognosis, greatly reducing nonspecific treatment, treatment costs, and the relapse rate. Since 1996, the department has performed hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (including bone marrow transplantation, cord blood transplantation, and peripheral blood stem cell transplantation) to treat various refractory hematologic diseases and chemotherapy-sensitive solid tumors. It has achieved good therapeutic results, accumulated extensive experience, and gained the trust of numerous patients with hematologic diseases. In 2005, China's first allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation for a child with mucopolysaccharidosis was performed successfully. The Department of Hematology at our hospital is a blood-sample collection site for hematopoietic stem cells of the China Marrow Donor Program. Conditions treated: ⑴ Malignant hematologic diseases (such as various acute and chronic leukemias, lymphoma, multiple myeloma, myelodysplastic syndromes, paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria, malignant histiocytosis, etc.); ⑵ Various anemias (such as aplastic anemia, autoimmune hemolytic anemia, thalassemia, etc.); ⑶ Hemorrhagic diseases (such as thrombocytopenic purpura, hemophilia, allergic purpura, disseminated intravascular coagulation, etc.); ⑷ Other hematologic diseases, such as polycythemia vera, thrombocytosis, and myelofibrosis; ⑸ Autoimmune diseases, such as systemic lupus erythematosus, scleroderma, and rheumatoid arthritis; ⑹ Chemotherapy-sensitive tumors, such as breast cancer, nasopharyngeal carcinoma, small-cell lung cancer, tumors of the reproductive system, osteosarcoma, and neuroblastoma. Frozen cells The Hematology Laboratory is equipped with multiple microscopes, a blood-cell morphology image-and-text analysis system, a flow cytometer, a blood coagulation analyzer, a microplate reader, a programmable cooling apparatus, a PCR instrument, a gel imaging analysis system, a cell culture room, a chromosome fluorescence in situ hybridization system, an ultra-low-temperature freezer, a low-temperature circulating bath, a low-temperature high-speed centrifuge, and various conventional instruments, with a total value of more than RMB 2 million. The laboratory can currently perform all cytomorphology, cellular immunology, and molecular biology tests for hematologic diseases, as well as tests for bleeding and coagulation disorders, platelet antibodies, and cytokines, and cryopreservation of hematopoietic stem cells. All laboratory instruments and equipment are fully open to external users on a paid-use or collaborative basis. Testing services already available in the well-equipped Hematology Laboratory: 1. Cell morphology examinations and immunohistochemistry 2. Flow cytometer: leukemia immunophenotype analysis; cellular immunophenotyping of lymphoma and myeloma; detection of minimal residual disease in leukemia; testing of various cytokines (CBA); CD34+ cell counting; T-cell subset analysis; PNH cell analysis; cell-cycle analysis; apoptosis detection; Treg-cell detection 3. Fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) of specific chromosomal abnormalities in hematologic tumors 4. Detection of leukemia fusion genes by RT-PCR 5. Detection of bleeding and coagulation abnormalities 6. Measurement of serum EPO, IFN-γ, and tumor necrosis factor levels 7. Detection of platelet autoantibodies and platelet membrane granule protein-140 8. Cryopreservation of hematopoietic stem cells Blood Analysis Department telephone: 020-89168092 Department Head's telephone: 020-89168162 (office) Hospital address: No. 1 Shiliugang Road, Guangzhou Postal code: 510317 Transportation: From Guangzhou Railway Station, take the metro, or take bus route 203 and get off at Chigang Station; the hospital is right there.
