Diagnostic Imaging
The Department of Radiology of Guangdong Second People’s Hospital is a department integrating medical care, scientific research, and teaching. It is a national clinical key specialty construction project, a national standardized resident training base, and also the Guangzhou Key Laboratory of Molecular Functional Imaging and Artificial Intelligence for Major Brain Diseases. It currently has four high-end spiral CT scanners, three 3.0 T magnetic resonance scanners, and one 1.5 T magnetic resonance scanner. The department is the Philips CT and magnetic resonance training center in South China. On average, it completes more than 30,000 CT examinations and 1.2 × 10,000 (12,000) MRI examinations annually. After years of development, the Department of Radiology of Provincial No. 2 Hospital has formed a professional team with extensive clinical experience. The department currently has 47 staff members, including 21 physicians, 17 technologists, 4 nurses, and 4 clerks. There are 14 staff members with senior professional titles and 17 with intermediate professional titles. There are 15 doctoral degree holders and 18 master’s degree holders. At present, the Department of Radiology has 2 doctoral supervisors and 4 master’s supervisors. The Department of Radiology has successively completed or is currently undertaking more than 10 National Natural Science Foundation projects and more than 30 provincial- and department- or bureau-level projects. It received one second prize and one third prize of the Guangdong Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award in 2016 and 2018, respectively. More than 100 SCI articles have been published, with some research papers appearing in top radiology journals, including Radiology and NeuroImage. In November 2018 (11/2018), it won the championship of the national skills competition in neuroimaging, the highest-level competition of its kind, held by the 15th Chinese Society of Radiology. 1. Philips Full-Digital Magnetic Resonance Ingenia 3.0T: As an advanced, high-end high-field magnetic resonance system in the industry, Philips Ingenia 3.0T possesses four revolutionary innovative technologies: a fully digital imaging chain, a full-performance large aperture, intelligent cruising throughout the entire process, and four-dimensional multi-source transmission. It achieves full-process digital optical-fiber transmission from the source of signal acquisition to image reconstruction, ensuring that image signals remain authentic and do not attenuate during transmission, thereby enabling the acquired data to be greater in quantity, faster, and more accurate, and making functional imaging analysis more reliable. Its unique fully digital imaging chain uses digital coils to digitize magnetic resonance signals at the source and completes full-process digital transmission through the digital coil interface, defining the fully digital standard for magnetic resonance.
The Philips Full-Digital Magnetic Resonance Ingenia 3.0T has outstanding advantages of faster scanning speed and higher resolution. It maximizes the possibility of achieving early diagnosis and early treatment. The examination fields of this magnetic resonance system cover brain functional imaging, spectroscopy imaging, diffusion imaging, angiography, musculoskeletal imaging, and abdominal imaging. The hardware and software configuration for nervous system examinations of the Philips Full-Digital Magnetic Resonance Ingenia 3.0T purchased by our hospital has reached the top level in Guangdong Province. In addition to being equipped with various sequences commonly used clinically at present, it is also equipped with a 32-channel dedicated neural coil. The new sequences include APT, 3DASL, Black Blood Imaging, Multibend-EPI and 256-direction Multibend-DTI, 4D-TRANCE, high-definition small-FOV diffusion, 3D NERVEVIEW, and various other advanced sequences. The Department of Radiology possesses the advanced Philips Ingenia 3.0T magnetic resonance system.
2. 256-slice Spiral Starlight iCT: It integrates currently advanced technologies in the industry and uses air-cushion bearing technology. It can perform 1024×1024 high-resolution imaging, with a thinnest scanning slice thickness of 0.6 mm, and can conduct whole-body examinations. In particular, it can clearly display subtle structures throughout the body, such as the middle ear and mastoid process and small pulmonary nodules. It can perform cardiac scanning in patients with a high heart rate or arrhythmia and can clearly display the coronary arteries and cardiac chambers in patients with congenital heart disease and coronary heart disease. The major blood vessels throughout the body can be imaged in a single examination. In addition, it has micro-radiation and iDose low-dose imaging, which can reduce the radiation dose to the examinee to the greatest extent.
3. PHILIPS Achieva Nova Dual 1.5T Magnetic Resonance Imaging System: This is the first PHILIPS dual-gradient 1.5T magnetic resonance system in South China. It is suitable for examinations of all parts of the body and has advantages that low-field magnetic resonance cannot match, including currently cutting-edge international brain functional imaging technology (BOLD), whole-body diffusion imaging (DWI), diffusion tensor imaging (DTI), susceptibility-weighted imaging sequence (SWI), noninvasive biliary tract water imaging (MRCP) and ureteral water imaging (MRU), spectroscopy imaging (MRS), and others.
