Neurology
The Department of Neurology of the Civil Aviation Campus of Guangdong Second Provincial General Hospital is a provincial-level clinical key specialty, focusing on the diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of nervous system diseases. The department has extensive experience in emergency treatment of cerebrovascular diseases (stroke), minimally invasive and interventional neurology, and neurological critical care. Led by Professor Jiao Yonggang, a nationally renowned expert, the multidisciplinary team is committed to providing patients with personalized and precise diagnosis and treatment plans. I. Specialty Features · Diagnostic and Treatment Features: The department specializes in emergency treatment of cerebrovascular diseases (stroke), minimally invasive and interventional neurology, and neurological critical care; it has established a green emergency pathway for stroke and provides diagnosis and treatment for severe cerebrovascular diseases: emergency intravenous thrombolysis for ischemic cerebrovascular disease, interventional surgery for ischemic cerebrovascular disease (arterial thrombolysis, mechanical thrombectomy, intracranial and extracranial angioplasty, etc.), interventional treatment for hemorrhagic cerebrovascular disease (simple coil embolization of cerebral aneurysms, stent-assisted coil embolization of cerebral aneurysms, flow-diverter stent implantation and embolization of cerebral aneurysms, etc.), minimally invasive treatment for hemorrhagic cerebrovascular disease (minimally invasive procedures for intracerebral hemorrhage, subdural hematoma, epidural hematoma, etc.), lateral ventricle puncture, and so on. Authoritative Expert: The academic leader is Professor Jiao Yonggang, an expert in neurology; the medical team is highly skilled and experienced. The department currently has a medical team of 6 members: 1 chief physician, 1 doctoral degree holder, and 5 master's degree holders; and a nursing team of 21 members: all are proficient in specialized nursing in neurology and can skillfully use equipment such as ventilators and defibrillators; Advanced Equipment: The department is equipped with domestically advanced large-scale medical equipment, including 3.0T MRI, 256-slice CT, and a digital subtraction angiography system (DSA) for cerebral vessels.Research Strength: The department has applied for and obtained 7 provincial- and municipal-level projects, including projects funded by the Guangdong Provincial Natural Science Foundation, and has led 4 of them. More than 20 papers have been published as the institution of the first and corresponding authors in SCI-indexed and core journals, including Neurological Sciences and Clinical Neurology and Neurosurgery. II. Scope of Diagnosis and Treatment The department provides diagnosis and treatment for various common and rare diseases of the nervous system, including: ischemic cerebrovascular diseases (cerebral infarction, etc.), hemorrhagic cerebrovascular diseases (cerebral hemorrhage, subarachnoid hemorrhage, subdural hemorrhage, epidural hemorrhage, etc.), dizziness, headache, sciatica, central nervous system infections, epilepsy, peripheral nerve diseases, demyelinating diseases of the central nervous system, dementia, hereditary neurological diseases, etc. III. Featured Technologies The department has a rapid and efficient team for minimally invasive and interventional treatment, capable of: rapid identification, prompt arrival, and timely administration of intravenous thrombolysis and various emergency treatments, including neurological minimally invasive and interventional procedures. 1. Interventional Treatment of Cerebrovascular Diseases (Ischemic and Hemorrhagic): The department performs various neurointerventional procedures, including DSA, arterial thrombolysis, mechanical thrombectomy, balloon angioplasty and stent implantation for intracranial and extracranial vessels, and embolization of intracranial aneurysms, effectively improving the speed of cerebrovascular disease treatment and shortening treatment time, thereby providing a strong guarantee for favorable outcomes for patients.▲Before and after emergency thrombectomy for acute basilar artery occlusion▲Thrombus removed from the basilar artery▲Before and after stent implantation treatment for severe middle cerebral artery stenosis▲Before and after stent implantation treatment for subtotal internal carotid artery occlusion▲Before and after recanalization treatment for chronic middle cerebral artery occlusion▲Before and after simple coil embolization treatment for cerebral aneurysm▲Before and after stent-assisted coil embolization treatment for cerebral aneurysm▲Before and after flow-diverter stent implantation and embolization treatment for cerebral aneurysm2. Minimally invasive treatment of hemorrhagic cerebrovascular diseases: Minimally invasive puncture treatment is performed for intracerebral hemorrhage, subdural hematoma, epidural hematoma, etc., effectively avoiding surgical craniotomy; patients recover quickly and have a good prognosis.▲Before and after minimally invasive puncture treatment for bilateral subdural hematomas▲Before and after minimally invasive puncture treatment for intracranial hematomaAddress of the Department of Neurology: Building 7, 3rd Floor, Civil Aviation Campus of the Second Provincial Medical HospitalTelephone: 020-89168421.
