Health Management (Physical Examination) Department

The Health Management (Health Examination) Department of Guangdong Provincial Second People's Hospital was founded in 2002. The department integrates health-care examinations, health consultation, early cancer screening, health risk assessment and intervention, and health promotion; it is the designated unit for the health examinations of cadres of provincial-level institutions, provincial civil service recruitment and the national college entrance examination, and is also a civil aviation aircrew medical examination and certification institution designated by the Civil Aviation Administration of China. In recent years, the comprehensive strength of the department has remained at the forefront nationwide: in 2018–2019 it was continuously listed among the “Top 100 Health Management (Health Examination) Institutions of Public Tertiary Hospitals”; in 2021 it entered the top 30 nationwide and ranked sixth in South China in the Fudan Edition China Hospital Rankings, and was ranked second among provincial-level institutions nationwide by Ailibi; in 2022 it rose further to 18th nationwide and the top three in South China. The department is also among the first batch of “one-stop” health management institutions in Guangdong Province and the first batch of “National Health Management Demonstration Bases”. The department has a highly skilled and experienced professional team with more than 170 current members, including more than 50 experts with senior professional titles and 9 full-time scientific researchers; the team includes several specially appointed professors, doctoral supervisors, master's supervisors and doctoral degree holders, providing strong support for the development of the discipline and the quality of services. The department's research team undertakes 2 projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China and multiple provincial, ministerial, municipal and departmental projects, and has published 8 SCI papers. The department is currently divided into the Pazhou campus and the Civil Aviation campus; the Civil Aviation campus is located on Jichang Road in Baiyun District, with an elegant and comfortable environment. The campus is equipped with professional equipment such as globally advanced CT, painless gastrointestinal endoscopy, high-end color Doppler ultrasound, exercise treadmill, electroencephalography and a standard pure-tone audiometry room, and has set up general consultation rooms for internal medicine, surgery, gynecology, ophthalmology, otorhinolaryngology, radiology, ultrasound and clinical laboratory. The team currently has 8 persons with the title of associate senior or above, including 2 members of the Civil Aviation Medical Examination and Certification Expert Committee. In terms of hardware and informatization, the department is equipped with the most advanced 64-slice mobile CT in Guangdong Province (the only one in the province that has obtained a radiodiagnosis permit), mobile DR and large health examination support vehicles, and its external examination services cover many places in the province such as Shaoguan, Qingyuan, Shenzhen and Zhuhai. In 2019, the country's first artificial intelligence health management platform “Dingbei Health” was launched, realizing full-process digital management such as intelligent package recommendation, appointment and payment, smart examination guidance, online report inquiry and health portrait assessment. As the aviation personnel medical examination and certification center for the six provinces of central and southern China (Guangdong, Guangxi, Hunan, Hubei, Hainan and Henan), the Civil Aviation campus undertakes the recruitment and annual medical examination and certification of pilots, cabin crew, security officers and air traffic controllers, and provides nearly 10,000 person-times of examination services every year to Air China, China Eastern Airlines, Hainan Airlines and many other units, providing solid safeguards for civil aviation flight safety. The department has always adhered to the service philosophy of “people-oriented, health foremost”, and with the professional medical level of a tertiary Grade A hospital and aviation-grade quality services, provides every client with health management services across the whole life cycle.
