Pharmacy Outpatient Clinic Series（天河院区）

The Department of Pharmacy is a comprehensive service department integrating pharmaceutical-affairs management, drug procurement, supply and dispensing, clinical pharmacy services, clinical drug trials, and research and teaching. It comprises the Drug Supply Group and five major specialty sections: the Western Medicine Section, the Traditional Chinese Medicine Section, the Intravenous Medication Admixture Center, the Clinical Pharmacy Section, and the Drug Clinical Trial Section. It currently has 113 staff members, including 24 with senior professional titles and 48 with intermediate professional titles; 1 doctorate holder, 30 master’s degree holders, and 57 bachelor’s degree holders. In 2017, it was approved as a National Drug Clinical Trial Institution and the Chinese Medical Association Clinical Pharmacist Trainee Training Center, and serves as a pharmacy internship base for 6 higher-education institutions, including Sun Yat-sen University, Jinan University, and Guangzhou Medical University. It serves as the chairing institution for two provincial-level committees: the Pharmacy Professional Committee of the Guangdong Maternal and Child Health Association and the Traditional Chinese Medicine Professional Committee of the Guangdong Women Physicians Association.

The department advocates a “Sunshine Culture”; its employees uphold integrity in professional practice, use open and transparent systems to regulate conduct, and dare to shoulder responsibility with a positive outlook. It remains committed to innovating its service, management, and public-education models, extending and transforming traditional counter services into “health education services, medication consultation services, and online public-education services.” It has opened outpatient clinics for medication consultations during menopause and during pregnancy and lactation; it has innovated the “women and children + traditional Chinese medicine” service model, developed specialized traditional Chinese medicine paste preparations for women and children, and launched new services such as the dispensing of powdered preparations according to prescriptions, providing patients with more convenient and personalized medication services. Over the past 5 years, it has obtained 1 national-level project and 14 provincial- and ministerial-level projects, among others; published 15 SCI articles, with a cumulative impact factor of ＞80; published more than 130 papers in Chinese core journals; obtained 3 national invention patents and more than 15 utility model patents; and received 170 honors and awards at the hospital level or above. In 2015, it was awarded the honorary title “Home for Youth League Members and Young People”; in 2018, it was awarded the national-level title “Youth Civilization Unit”; for 2017~2018, it was recognized as a “Guangdong May Fourth Red Flag Youth League Organization” and a “Youth Volunteer Service Post”; as an advanced primary-level Party organization of the directly affiliated agencies of the Guangdong Provincial Health Commission for 2017~2019; as an advanced primary-level Party organization of the Guangdong Provincial Working Committee of Organs Directly Under the Provincial Government in 2019; and as a “Model Party Branch” of the directly affiliated agencies of the Guangdong Provincial Health Commission in 2020. It has been named an advanced Party branch of the hospital for many consecutive years.

Taking the hospital grade assessment as an opportunity, the Department of Pharmacy has established a quality management system for maternal and child pharmaceutical affairs, built a platform for exchanges on pharmaceutical-affairs management among primary-level hospitals, and carried out the “Go to the Grassroots, Strengthen Management—A Ten-Thousand-Li Journey for Medication Safety for Women and Children” campaign. It has supported more than 20 primary-level maternal and child health hospitals, driven maternal and child health institutions throughout the province to continuously improve their pharmaceutical-affairs management, and worked to open a new chapter in the development of maternal and child pharmacy.
