To provide more professional and high-quality care services for children with hematologic and oncologic diseases and improve the hospital's capacity to treat pediatric hematologic and oncologic diseases, the Department of Pediatric Hematology of Guangdong Women and Children's Hospital was officially established on November 7, 2024. Main diseases diagnosed and treated: red blood cell diseases: thalassemia, hemolysis due to various causes, erythrocytosis; leukemic diseases: various childhood leukemias, neutropenia; platelet diseases: acute and chronic thrombocytopenia, Glanzmann thrombasthenia, rare thrombocytosis; hematopoietic failure disorders: aplastic anemia, congenital bone marrow failure diseases, myelodysplastic syndromes; bleeding and coagulation disorders: hemophilia, thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura, DIC; histiocytic diseases: hemophagocytic syndrome, Langerhans cell histiocytosis, xanthogranuloma, etc.; lymphomas: Hodgkin lymphoma, Burkitt lymphoma, diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, chronic active EBV-associated lymphoproliferative disease; various solid tumors: Wilms tumor, hepatoblastoma, germ cell tumors, brain tumors, neuroblastoma, various sarcomas, etc. Main diagnostic and treatment techniques: specialized thalassemia clinic, long-term regular blood transfusions, iron chelation therapy, and long-term management; blood cell analysis technology; cytotoxic drug treatment (chemotherapy) for hematologic malignancies and solid tumors, monoclonal or polyclonal antibody treatment, small-molecule targeted therapy, CART and other cellular immunotherapies; integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine treatment for pediatric hematologic diseases; genetic counseling related to hematologic oncology.
