Neonatal Surgery Outpatient Clinic（越秀院区）

The Department of Neonatal Surgery of Guangdong Women and Children’s Hospital is one of the earliest-established and largest specialized neonatal surgery units in Guangdong Province, serves as the Guangdong Provincial Neonatal Malformation Treatment Center, serves as the institution leading the Neonatal Surgery Group and holding the deputy chairmanship of the Youth Committee of the Guangdong Pediatric Surgery Society, and serves as the Guangdong provincial project-management agency and designated medical institution for the Congenital Structural Malformation Assistance Project of the China Birth Defects Intervention and Relief Foundation. It primarily treats neonates with congenital malformations and acquired surgical diseases, receives critically ill children with congenital malformations transferred from primary hospitals throughout Guangdong Province and neighboring provinces, has 43 approved beds, admits more than 1600 patients annually, and performs more than 1200 operations annually. It has a range of advanced thoracoscopic, laparoscopic, and ICU nursing and resuscitation equipment. With integrated services for prenatal assessment and counseling of fetal congenital malformations and early postnatal diagnosis and treatment, minimally invasive endoscopic treatment of congenital malformations, early postoperative feeding, and rapid recovery among its distinguishing features, the department has reached an advanced level in Guangdong Province and even nationwide in thoracoscopic and laparoscopic surgery for various major congenital malformations, surgical treatment of premature and low-birth-weight infants, and other areas. The Department of Neonatal Surgery of Guangdong Women and Children’s Hospital has a highly educated and experienced medical and nursing team, including 3 chief physicians, 1 deputy chief physician, and 2 master’s supervisors; 1 person with a doctoral degree and 11 with postgraduate degrees; and 1 Outstanding Young Medical Talent of Guangdong Province. It is a leading institution in Guangdong Province that advances clinical care, research, and teaching in parallel, and has established close cooperative relationships in various forms, including referrals, technical guidance, specialty alliances, and medical alliances, with more than 100 People’s Hospitals and maternal and child health hospitals at all levels in Guangdong Province and neighboring provinces. The annual number of patient transfers exceeds 500, helping primary hospitals resolve surgery-related issues involving children with congenital malformations and critically ill pediatric surgical patients, and making important contributions to reducing the province-wide perinatal mortality rate, increasing the treatment rate of children with birth defects throughout the province, and improving their prognoses.
