The Department of Pharmacy of Guang'anmen Hospital was established in 1956. After more than 60 years of development, the Department of Pharmacy has evolved into a pharmaceutical technical service department integrating pharmaceutical services, research, teaching, and management, with the mission of ensuring clinical medication use and promoting safe, rational, and effective medication use. The Department of Pharmacy currently undertakes pharmaceutical technical work including the supply and dispensing of medicines, decoction of traditional Chinese medicines, in-house preparations, and clinical pharmacy services, among others; it also assumes the responsibility of promoting rational, safe, and standardized medication use. The Department of Pharmacy of Guang'anmen Hospital is a Beijing Key Specialty in Clinical Pharmacy of Traditional Chinese Medicine; the China Association of Chinese Medicine's “Training Base for Clinical Pharmacists of Traditional Chinese Medicine”; the “National Training Base for Inheriting Specialized Traditional Chinese Medicine Techniques”; the “Yan Zhenghua Clinical Chinese Materia Medica Discipline Service Base of the Beijing Municipal Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine”; the “Clinical Traditional Chinese Medicine Internship Base of the School of Chinese Materia Medica, Beijing University of Chinese Medicine”; the “Construction Unit for the Chinese Medicine Dispensing Room of the Beijing Traditional Chinese Medicine ‘Traditional Small Plaster’ Revival Project”; and the “Beijing Model Chinese Medicine Pharmacy.”
