Clinical Nutrition
The First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University
In September 2012, with the approval of the former Chongqing Municipal Health Bureau, the hospital officially established the Department of Clinical Nutrition; in October 2013, it fully launched clinical diagnosis and treatment services including enteral nutrition, parenteral nutrition, therapeutic diets, and healthy diet guidance. The department serves all open beds at the main hospital, has an enteral nutrition preparation room (equipped with a 24-hour laminar-flow purification system), and is equipped with an imported mobile body composition analyzer, providing scientific and accurate data for developing personalized nutritional plans for outpatients and inpatients. There are currently 12 staff members, including 9 physicians, 2 nurses, and 1 delivery worker. Among the department's medical and technical personnel, 1 holds a full senior professional and technical title, 1 an associate senior title, 4 intermediate titles, and 5 junior titles. Since 2015, the Department of Clinical Nutrition has actively joined the hospital's multidisciplinary integrated diagnosis and treatment teams (MDT), such as enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS), inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), colorectal cancer, the obesity clinic, gastrointestinal stromal tumors, and the assisted reproduction center, fully leveraging the strengths of the discipline to better serve patients. In particular, after joining the ERAS-MDT team, it has formulated perioperative nutrition implementation plans for Orthopedics, Gastrointestinal Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Neurosurgery, and Hepatobiliary Surgery; to date, it has served more than 50,000 surgical patients, with initial results in accelerating patient recovery, improving the quality of medical care, and improving patients' healthcare experience. Who needs to visit the nutrition outpatient clinic? Under normal circumstances, people obtain all nutritional nourishment from food. If a person skips one or two meals, they will feel weak and listless; for patients, this only makes matters worse. Therefore, nutritional awareness should be strengthened in daily life, and medical attention should be sought promptly when problems arise. 1. Chronic noncommunicable diseases (chronic diseases): diabetes, hyperlipidemia, hypertension, hyperuricemia or gout, coronary heart disease, chronic digestive system diseases, chronic renal failure, tumors, etc.; 2. Perioperative patients before and after surgery, or patients with tumors before and after radiotherapy and chemotherapy; 3. Underweight persons or those who are overweight or obese; 4. Special populations such as women preparing for pregnancy, during pregnancy, and postpartum, young children, students, and older adults; 5. Other people who cannot eat normally or have significant weight loss.
