Nuclear Medicine

The Department of Nuclear Medicine was established in 1959. It is an authorized master’s and doctoral degree granting site in Imaging Medicine and Nuclear Medicine (the only doctoral degree granting site in Nuclear Medicine in Anhui Province), a National Clinical Key Specialty in Medical Imaging, and ranked 6th in East China in Fudan University’s Best Specialty Ranking (the only hospital in Anhui Province nominated for Nuclear Medicine diagnosis). It is the institution where the chair of the Anhui Nuclear Medicine Academic Society is based, the affiliated institution of the Anhui Nuclear Medicine Specialty Medical Consortium, a standardized residency training base for Nuclear Medicine, and a training base for high-level Nuclear Medicine professionals in Anhui Province. It has received the hospital’s Advanced Collective award for 9 consecutive years. The department has advanced medical equipment and complete facilities, including 1 internationally advanced PET/MR, 2 PET/CT units (including 1 internationally advanced post-digital PET/CT Biograph Vision), and 3 SPECT/CT units (including 1 internationally advanced quantitative SPECT/CT Symbia Intevo). It has 1 cyclotron, 1 bone densitometer, 7 immunoassay analyzers, and a radionuclide therapy ward (22 beds). The specialty has a practical area of 4,000 M2, including teaching and research facilities. More than 2,000 radionuclide therapy cases are treated annually, with 12,000 outpatient visits, 18,000 SPECT/CT cases, and 5,700 PET/CT cases per year. It has maintained a leading position in Anhui Province for many consecutive years in radionuclide imaging, radionuclide therapy, teaching, and research, and has strong capacity for radiating medical services and medical technology.

Team Strength

There are 29 active employees: 2 chief physicians, 3 associate chief physicians, 5 attending physicians, 3 resident physicians, 9 technicians, and 5 nurses. There is 1 doctoral supervisor, 4 master’s supervisors, 9 doctors, and 10 master’s degree holders; more than 30 master’s and doctoral students have been trained. There is 1 professor (1 second-level professor), 2 associate professors, and 2 university-appointed associate professors; 1 person receives a special allowance from the provincial government, 1 is an academic and technical leader of Anhui Province, 1 is a Jianghuai Famous Physician, and 1 is a young leading talent of Anhui Province.

Honors and Qualifications

In recent years, the department has undertaken 5 national-level projects (2 general projects and 3 young investigator projects), 7 provincial- and ministerial-level projects, and 3 department- and university-level projects; it has published more than 80 papers and contributed to the compilation of 6 monographs. It has received 1 second prize and 1 third prize for Scientific and Technological Progress of Anhui Province, as well as 2 Anhui Provincial Scientific and Technological Research Achievement awards.
