Plastic Surgery
The Department of Plastic Surgery of the First Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical University was established in 1975, taking the lead in being established in the province. It is one of the relatively early-established specialty departments of plastic and aesthetic surgery in China. In 1992, it was selected as a key discipline among the first cohort of Grade III Class A hospitals nationwide and was one of the first doctoral programs in plastic surgery in Anhui Province. In 1994, with the approval of the former State Education Commission, it obtained authorization to confer master’s degrees. At that time, it was the only professional master’s program in plastic surgery among the six provinces of East China. It began enrolling master’s degree graduate students in 1995. In 1996, it was selected by the Anhui Provincial Department of Health as one of the first batch of “Key Clinical Medical Disciplines of Anhui Province.” In 2001, it was again designated a provincial key discipline. It is the only key discipline specializing in plastic surgery in the province. In the “Specialty Reputation Ranking (Fudan version),” it ranks among the top ten in East China and first in Anhui Province.
The discipline currently has 26 medical and nursing staff, including 5 professors (chief physicians) and 3 associate professors (deputy chief physicians); 10 hold doctoral degrees and 7 hold master’s degrees. It currently has 2 doctoral supervisors and 4 master’s supervisors.
