Diamond Bay Campus – Neurology Ward
The Department of Neurology at the Diamond Bay Campus of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Dalian Medical University was established in 2003 and is a clinical specialty department integrating medical care, teaching, and research. The department has a strong medical team, a well-developed professional talent pipeline, and a high level of professional expertise. Its medical staff possess solid theoretical knowledge, extensive clinical experience, and good medical ethics and professional conduct.
The department has more than 40 beds, discharges more than 1,000 patients annually, and has an annual outpatient volume of more than 8,000 person-visits. The Department of Neurology has 9 doctors and 11 nurses, including 2 doctoral degree holders, 5 master’s degree holders, and 8 people with senior professional titles. Several members have undertaken further training in neurointervention and neurology at the University of Freiburg in Germany, Beijing Tiantan Hospital, and Beijing Xuanwu Hospital.
Given the high incidence, mortality, disability, and recurrence rates of cerebrovascular disease, the Department of Neurology has made the diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, and prevention of cerebrovascular disease its main focus. It actively performs intravenous thrombolysis and arterial thrombectomy for acute ischemic stroke, has established a green channel for stroke, and has further improved its emergency diagnosis, treatment, and rescue capabilities for stroke.
With interventional diagnosis and treatment of cerebrovascular disease as its signature technology, the department routinely performs cerebral angiography (the “gold standard” for cerebrovascular examination) and interventional treatments for cerebrovascular disease such as stent placement for cerebral artery stenosis, stent placement for carotid artery stenosis, stent placement for vertebral artery stenosis, and embolization of cerebral aneurysms. For the diagnosis and treatment of common and rare neurological diseases, including Parkinson’s disease, epilepsy, demyelinating diseases, peripheral neuropathies, myasthenia gravis, dementia, headache, dizziness, sleep disorders, and psychosomatic diseases, the department has accumulated extensive experience. It continues to develop new technologies and improve its diagnostic and treatment capabilities and, with good medical ethics and professional conduct and excellent technical skills, better helps patients resolve their worries and difficulties.
All medical and nursing staff of the Department of Neurology uphold the spirit of the hospital motto, “Revere virtue and esteem medicine,” take “health entrusted to us and lives placed in our hands” as their responsibility, delve deeply into the sources of medical knowledge, work diligently and tirelessly, continually improve the quality of medical and nursing care, and strive to safeguard the health of the many patients they serve. The Department of Neurology outpatient clinic is located in Consultation Room 8 on the first floor of the outpatient building, and the ward is on the fifth floor of Block B of the Internal Medicine Building.
