General Interventional Ward
The vascular and tumor interventional department at the Second Affiliated Hospital of Dalian Medical University performs more than 50 transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS) procedures annually for portal hypertension, including transhepatic and transsplenic guided techniques and TIPS for regional or cancer-related portal hypertension. It treats aortic aneurysm and dissection, including urgent and elective endovascular branch reconstruction using chimney, periscope, parallel and custom or physician-modified branch stents. Neurointerventional services include emergency thrombectomy, balloon angioplasty and stenting of intracranial or extracranial stenosis, coil embolization of intracranial aneurysms with stent or balloon assistance, flow diverters and drug-delivery devices. Lower-limb arterial treatment includes atherectomy, thrombus debulking, drug-coated balloons and stents, biomimetic stents, below-knee and below-ankle recanalization, and combined diabetic-foot wound care and revascularization. Acute and chronic venous thrombosis and pulmonary embolism are treated with thrombectomy, thrombolysis, debulking, balloon dilation and stenting. The hospital reports national recognition for thrombosis prevention and treatment. Tumor interventions include thermal and argon-helium cryoablation, radioactive seed implantation, drug-eluting microsphere embolization and continuous hepatic arterial infusion combined with targeted or immune therapy. Stents in the vena cava, bile duct, intestine, airway or ureter treat tumor-related complications. Emergency interventions cover bleeding, infection and obstruction; benign conditions include vascular tumors, uterine fibroids, liver or kidney cysts and prostatic enlargement. Chest-wall and upper-arm infusion ports and chemotherapy reservoirs are also implanted.
