Interventional Radiology Diagnostic Center
The Interventional Radiology Diagnosis Center was established in November 2016. Its main work is to perform biopsy and CT-guided interventional treatment of solid lesions in complex deep parts of the human body through CT-guided puncture. CT-guided puncture biopsy and interventional treatment procedures were first performed in 1999, and the center was the first in the province to implement them systematically. In 2002, celiac plexus block (NCPB) was introduced; in 2005, radiofrequency ablation of lung tumors; in 2007, systematic aspiration of renal, hepatic, and mediastinal cysts and abscess drainage; in 2013, preoperative localization of pulmonary nodules using Hook-Wire and tumor particle implantation; in 2017, puncture biopsy of intraorbital lesions and craniocerebral lesions; in 2019, systematic tumor microwave ablation; and in 2021, systematic puncture drainage for acute severe pancreatitis. After more than 20 years of development, the center can now perform puncture procedures in almost all parts of the body. To date, more than 10,000 cases have been completed, with an accuracy rate of 97.5%.
For all deep lesions of the human body, CT-guided puncture biopsy may be considered when the diagnosis cannot be confirmed, including determination of benign or malignant status, pathogen detection, and diagnosis of difficult cases, or when a malignant tumor has been confirmed and a definitive pathological diagnosis is required. For malignant tumors of the lung, liver, pancreas, kidney, and musculoskeletal system, CT-guided tumor ablation may be considered when surgical resection is not possible or surgery is refused. This technique is characterized by minimal tissue damage, high safety, and rapid recovery.
Professor Sun Chuanshu, director of the department, has worked in CT-guided intervention for more than 20 years and has extensive clinical experience. He is particularly skilled in puncture biopsy and interventional treatment of lesions in complex parts of the human body. He has also conducted in-depth research and accumulated extensive clinical experience in the imaging diagnosis of difficult thoracic diseases. He has published more than 20 papers indexed by SCI and in core journals; led one provincial-level project and one municipal-level project; and participated in one national-level project. Social appointments: member of the Youth Expert Committee for Lung Cancer Medicine, Beijing Medical Award Foundation; executive committee member of the Thoracic Precision Biopsy Branch, Beijing Health Promotion Association; executive committee member of the Pulmonary Nodule Professional Committee, National Cancer Minimally Invasive Treatment Industry Technology Innovation Strategic Alliance; executive committee member of the Magnetic Resonance Imaging Equipment and Technology Committee, Chinese Association of Medical Equipment; member of the Cardiothoracic and Breast Group, 12th Committee of the Radiology Branch, Liaoning Medical Association; and member of the Expert Group of the Pulmonary Nodule Diagnosis and Treatment Center, Second Affiliated Hospital of Dalian Medical University, China Lung Cancer Alliance.
