Puwan Campus Pharmacy Department

The Department of Pharmacy of the Second Hospital of Dalian Medical University is a comprehensive technical and functional department integrating pharmaceutical supply assurance, pharmaceutical administration, clinical pharmacy, discipline teaching and scientific research; it has four sub-specialties under it — the Pharmacy Section, the Clinical Pharmacy Section, the Pharmacy Section of the Diamond Bay Campus and the Department of Pharmacy of the Puwan Campus — and is composed of 9 units including the outpatient pharmacy, the emergency pharmacy, the herbal medicine pharmacy, the central pharmacy, the drug warehouse, the Pharmacy Intravenous Admixture Service (PIVAS), the clinical pharmacist section, the pharmaceutical quality control room, the pharmaceutical laboratory and the department office. The department has strong professional technical, research and teaching capabilities. It has 23 holders of senior professional titles, 12 PhD holders, 31 master's degree holders and 7 master's supervisors. In the past 5 years, the department has received 14 Youth Fund projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, completed 13 provincial and municipal research projects, and published 46 papers in SCI journals and national core journals; it has successively been awarded honorary titles such as the Dalian Five-Excellence Youth Civilization Unit, the National Classic Case Award for Medical Management, the Outstanding Team of the Liaoning Pharmaceutical Association, the First Prize of the Northwest Region of the China Pharmacy Service Innovation Competition, the First Prize of the Liaoning Region of the China Pharmacist Vocational Skills Competition, and the First Prize of the Liaoning Provincial Clinical Pharmacist Case Competition.

The Department of Pharmacy of the Puwan Campus has an automated drug dispensing management system (intelligent pharmacy); the outpatient and emergency departments implement fully automatic whole-box dispensing and semi-automatic intelligent storage and dispensing, and are equipped with fully automatic dispensing machines, fully automatic packaging machines, intelligent drug cabinets and other equipment, which can ensure the safety of patients' medication and improve patient satisfaction.

Relying on a strong disciplinary background, the Department of Pharmacy of the Puwan Campus has opened a pharmacy clinic to provide patients with distinctive clinical pharmacy services; it carries out work such as pharmacists going into clinical departments, pre-prescription review, review and comment on medical orders, and monitoring of adverse drug reactions, integrating pharmaceutical services into the whole process of patients' medication; it carries out the construction of internet hospital pharmaceutical services, providing online pharmacist consultation and patient medication guidance and other pharmaceutical service items; and it has set up a science popularization team to regularly push high-quality popular science articles to the public, safeguarding the medication safety of the people.
