Puwan Campus – Urological Surgery Department

The Department of Urology of the Second Hospital of Dalian Medical University was founded in 1954. It is a key discipline integrating teaching, medical care, and scientific research, with strong capabilities and significant influence in China. The department is authorized to confer master’s degrees, doctoral degrees in Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine Urology, and is a national key specialty. The department has vigorously developed minimally invasive diagnosis and treatment technologies. It has now achieved comprehensive coverage of laparoscopic technology in the treatment of urological diseases. In 2019, it was the first in southern Liaoning to perform da Vinci robot-assisted laparoscopic surgery. To date, it has completed nearly 1,000 various robotic surgeries, including robotic single-port laparoscopic radical prostatectomy and removal of renal cancer tumor thrombus from the vena cava, marking that the robotic surgery technology and other endoscopic surgery standards of the Department of Urology of the Second Hospital of Dalian Medical University have reached a first-class level in China and a leading position in the three northeastern provinces. Currently, the department has 89 authorized beds and is divided into the directions of urinary tract tumors and robotics, minimally invasive urology and calculi, urinary tract tumors and lower urinary tract diseases, and andrology, male reproduction, intimate aesthetics, and sexual medicine. There are four wards and 26 doctors, including 9 professors and 8 associate professors, all of whom hold master’s degrees or higher; there are 3 doctoral supervisors and 5 master’s supervisors. The Department of Urology of the Puwan Campus continues the fine traditions of the Department of Urology of the Second Hospital of Dalian Medical University. All department members are key personnel from the department of the Xinghai Campus of the Second Hospital of Dalian Medical University. The department currently has 15 beds and is equipped with a cystoscopy examination room, a urodynamic examination room, an extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy unit, and an andrology examination room, among others. The Department of Urology of the Puwan Campus is characterized by minimally invasive diagnosis and treatment. Under the leadership of department head Liu Zhiyu and the guidance of department director Professor Li Xiancheng, it comprehensively performs all surgical procedures carried out by the Department of Urology of the main hospital, including endoscopic treatment of adrenal and renal diseases, as well as high-difficulty minimally invasive surgeries such as endoscopic radical treatment of prostate cancer and bladder cancer.The Department of Urology at Puwan Campus provides comprehensive treatment for advanced prostate cancer and relevant rehabilitation training for patients with various types of urinary incontinence.
