Cardiology 2
The Cardiology 2 Department is a subspecialty focusing on the diagnosis and treatment of hypertension and diseases related to coronary heart disease. In November 2020, following an adjustment to the hospital’s disciplinary structure, the department was reorganized from the former Cardiology 5 Department (hypertension) and the former Cardiology 2 Department (coronary heart disease). Professors Ye Xuying, Liu Yuhui, Li Changyu and Zhao Xianglian, senior medical experts of the older generation in the Department of Cardiology, have for many years conducted clinical, basic, epidemiological and community-based prevention and treatment research on hypertension, coronary heart disease and other related diseases. They have also collaborated with countries including the United States, Canada, France and Italy, participated in large-scale international multicenter clinical studies, and achieved fruitful results in the prevention and treatment of hypertension and coronary heart disease. Their findings have been published in internationally renowned journals such as The Lancet, Hypertension and Hypertension Research, exerting a certain influence both internationally and domestically and laying a solid foundation for the department’s sustained development.
The department has 31 open beds, with 4 doctors currently holding senior professional titles and 6 attending physicians. There is 1 doctoral supervisor and 3 master’s supervisors, and more than 70% hold doctoral degrees. Under the leadership of Director Ding Yanchun (Professor/doctoral supervisor), the department has unique advantages in the interventional treatment of coronary heart disease and the diagnosis and treatment of hypertension-related diseases. For coronary heart disease, the department routinely performs interventional treatment of complex coronary lesions (left main coronary artery lesions, chronic total occlusion lesions, bifurcation lesions and calcified lesions), emergency interventional treatment for acute myocardial infarction, intravascular coronary ultrasound examination (IVUS), fractional flow reserve (FFR) measurement and intracoronary optical coherence tomography (OCT) examination. More than 95% of the department’s coronary intervention patients undergo procedures via the distal radial artery approach, greatly reducing patient discomfort and the occurrence of bleeding complications. For hypertension, the department routinely conducts screening for secondary hypertension, diagnosis and treatment of resistant hypertension, management of hypertensive emergencies, and genetic testing to guide the selection of antihypertensive medications. Selective adrenal venous sampling (AVS) via the median cubital vein approach and interventional treatment of renal artery stenosis via the radial artery approach are specialties of the department; compared with traditional approaches, they greatly reduce the occurrence of vascular-access complications and patient discomfort.
The department upholds the excellent medical ethics and academic style of the older generation of medical experts, embraces the philosophy of “openness, innovation, sincerity and inclusiveness,” continuously strengthens scientific and technological innovation, and actively develops new technologies and services for the diagnosis and treatment of hypertension and coronary heart disease. While improving its own medical capabilities and advancing department development, it firmly upholds a patient-centered service philosophy, strengthens its sense of mission and strives to improve service quality. Here, all medical and nursing staff of our Cardiology 2 Department are willing to serve the broad patient population with sincerity and heartfelt compassion.
