Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery I
The Organ Transplant Center of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Dalian Medical University was established in 2001. It is a nationally designated and accredited hospital approved by the National Health Commission to perform liver, kidney, heart, and lung transplantation, and is also one of the few centers in China that simultaneously performs multiple types of organ transplantation. To date, it has successfully completed more than 300 liver transplants, with surgical success and long-term survival rates both reaching an advanced domestic level, and it has received the Third Prize for Scientific and Technological Progress of Liaoning Province. At the same time, it has completed more than 100 kidney transplants and carried out a number of technically demanding procedures, including pediatric and related living-donor kidney transplantation, combined pancreas-kidney transplantation, and living-donor kidney transplantation, filling gaps in Dalian and even Liaoning Province. In 2021, the center successfully completed an allogeneic bilateral lung transplant and independently performed a heart transplant, achieving historic new breakthroughs in lung and heart transplantation in Dalian and the southern Liaoning region. The center was the first in Dalian to carry out organ transplantation from donors after citizen death (DCD), becoming one of only two Organ Procurement Organization (OPO) centers in Liaoning Province, and successfully coordinates dozens of DCD organ donations every year.
