Rheumatology and Immunology, Puwan Campus

The Rheumatology and Immunology Department of the Second Hospital of Dalian Medical University was the earliest department in southern Liaoning to provide rheumatology and immunology diagnosis and treatment. It is a clinical key specialty of Liaoning Province, a first-level key discipline of Dalian City, and the chairing unit of the Rheumatology Branches of the Dalian Medical Association and Dalian Medical Doctors Association. As currently the largest rheumatology and immunology discipline in Dalian, it has successively received approval for the Dalian Autoantibody Testing Laboratory and the Dalian Engineering Research Center for the Diagnosis and Treatment of Critical Rheumatic and Immunological Diseases. The discipline has a professionally structured and highly capable team, with 14 physicians and 3 technicians, including 4 senior physicians, 6 associate senior physicians and 4 attending physicians; all have at least master’s-level education, including 6 doctors or doctoral candidates, and they hold important positions in national, provincial and municipal academic institutions. Department experts provide outpatient services at the Puwan Campus on a fixed schedule every week, and the campus has inpatient beds for the department. The department has extensive experience in diagnosing and treating common rheumatic diseases, including systemic lupus erythematosus, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, Sjögren syndrome, inflammatory myopathy, psoriatic arthritis, systemic sclerosis, systemic vasculitis, Behçet disease, gouty arthritis and osteoporosis. It also undertakes diagnosis and treatment of difficult and severe rheumatic diseases in southern Liaoning and actively develops new technologies, such as new immunopurification technology for critical rheumatic and immunological diseases, multitarget combination therapy for lupus nephritis, interventional treatment of immune-related adverse pregnancy, precise ultrasound-guided targeted intervention for arthritis, integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine treatment of rheumatic diseases, autoantibody testing and noninvasive peripheral vascular testing, reaching an advanced domestic level. The department also emphasizes chronic-disease management for rheumatic and immunological diseases and integrated Chinese-Western medicine health maintenance and rehabilitation.
