Puwan Campus Ultrasound Department

The Department of Ultrasound of the Second Hospital of Dalian Medical University was established in 1985. It is a key discipline of the Liaoning Provincial Health Commission integrating medical care, teaching, and scientific research, a first-level key discipline of the Dalian Municipal Health Commission, and the institution serving as the chair of the Dalian Ultrasound Quality Control Center. It comprises the Department of Ultrasound, the Cardiac Ultrasound Department, and the Obstetric and Gynecologic Ultrasound Department (belonging to the obstetrics and gynecology discipline), and is a doctoral and master's degree conferral site in Imaging Medicine and Nuclear Medicine of Dalian Medical University. The Department of Ultrasound has strong professional, technical, scientific research, and teaching capabilities, with 1 doctoral supervisor and 8 master's supervisors. The entire discipline has 36 physicians and 4 nurses, including 8 with senior professional titles, 5 with associate senior professional titles, 12 with intermediate professional titles, and 11 with junior professional titles. Of these, 4 hold doctoral degrees, while all the others hold master's degrees. The scientific research projects led and participated in by the discipline have received more than ten provincial and municipal science and technology progress awards; it has led 3 National Natural Science Foundation projects and multiple provincial and municipal scientific research funds; and it has published more than 400 SCI and papers in national core journals. The Department of Ultrasound at the Puwan Campus is affiliated with the main hospital, and its medical, technical, and nursing services are all connected with those of the main hospital for diagnosis and treatment. The department is well equipped with high-end, advanced equipment, possessing 5 types of ultrasound instruments, including 2 high-end specialized instruments. The department has a high level of expertise in diagnosing difficult and rare diseases and has considerable influence in Dalian and even throughout Liaoning Province. In addition to routine ultrasound examinations, it can perform new and specialized ultrasound techniques, including interventional ultrasound, musculoskeletal ultrasound, contrast-enhanced ultrasound, and ultrasound elastography, thereby fully serving the broad patient population and meeting healthcare needs.
