Puwan Campus Laboratory Department

The Department of Laboratory Medicine of the Second Hospital of Dalian Medical University was established in 1963. It is a clinical laboratory integrating medical care, teaching, and research, with 6 specialty groups: the Biochemistry Specialty Group, Immunology Specialty Group, Microbiology Specialty Group, Cellular Morphology Specialty Group, Clinical Laboratory Testing Specialty Group, and Emergency Laboratory Testing Specialty Group; it also has 3 subspecialties: the Transfusion Center, Flow Cytometry Testing Center, and PCR Molecular Testing Center. In accordance with the quality policy of “Accuracy, Impartiality, Efficiency, and Satisfaction,” it successfully passed the expert review organized by the China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment in 2016 and obtained an ISO15189 accreditation certificate. The department has 14 full professors, 18 associate professors, and 8 supervisors of master’s students. From 2015 to the present, the department has undertaken 1 subproject of the National 863 Program, 4 projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, 1 project of the Liaoning Provincial Natural Science Foundation, 4 projects of the Liaoning Provincial Department of Education, and 4 Dalian municipal projects. Department personnel have published, as first or corresponding authors, 22 SCI-indexed papers and 54 papers in Chinese-language journals, participated in compiling 9 books, and held 47 academic appointments at various levels.

The Department of Laboratory Medicine at the Puwan Campus is affiliated with the Main Hospital; its medical, technical, and nursing staff all coordinate diagnosis and treatment with the Main Hospital. The department is equipped with excellent, high-end, advanced equipment and has more than 100 large instruments and pieces of equipment, including a Roche biochemical and immunoassay automation line, a routine urinalysis and urine sediment automation line, and a Mindray complete blood count automation line, all at an advanced level in China. The department performs more than 400 laboratory tests, and the experimental methodologies of its various specialties have basically reached an advanced level in China. The Department of Laboratory Medicine is a clinical research laboratory of the National 863 Program and a provincial central laboratory of the China Glycated Hemoglobin Consistency Program. The Flow Cytometry Testing Center, as a member of the China Clinical Flow Cytometry Alliance and the only training base in Northeast China for BD flow cytometry applications, is one of the first 40 centers nationwide for the “Standardized Testing Series Training in Flow Cytometry for CD34+ Cells” of the Cell Analysis Professional Committee of the Chinese Society of Bioengineering.
