Cardiovascular Examination Department
The Cardiovascular Examination Department originated as an ECG room in 1952. A cardiac function unit was established in the 1980s, and the two merged in 2011. The hospital describes its range of cardiovascular examinations as among the most comprehensive in Liaoning. It has nine staff with senior and eight with intermediate professional titles.
Its eleven examinations are routine ECG; 24-hour ambulatory ECG; seven-day ambulatory ECG; programmed pacemaker follow-up; treadmill exercise testing; real-time remote cardiac monitoring; 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring; noninvasive arteriosclerosis testing; vascular endothelial function testing; head-up tilt testing; and transesophageal cardiac pacing.
In 2012 it was designated a cooperative center of the China Remote ECG Monitoring Network and a remote cardiac monitoring subcenter of the Chinese Medical Association’s electrophysiology and pacing branch. In 2013 it introduced the hospital-wide GE-MUSE ECG information system for network transmission of ECG diagnoses. The hospital describes its model and examination range as leading in the region and notes that tilt testing and transesophageal pacing are rarely available at other hospitals there. Its pacemaker clinic provides programmed follow-up for several thousand patients annually. Approximately 300,000 ECGs and 20,000 ambulatory ECG recordings are read each year.
