Cardiovascular Outpatient and Emergency Department
The outpatient service highlights the distinctive feature of subspecialty and disease-specific treatment, and includes 12 subspecialty outpatient clinics, including hypertension, coronary heart disease, arrhythmias, heart failure, congenital heart disease, atrial fibrillation, cardio-oncology, and others; patients can receive more personalized and precise diagnosis and treatment. The number of visits to the cardiovascular disease outpatient clinic has increased year by year, with the annual average outpatient volume reaching approximately 200,000 visits.
Patients seen in the cardiac emergency department are often at the boundary between life and death, so the requirements for emergency care are speed and accuracy. At the time it was established, the cardiac emergency department of the First Hospital of Dalian Medical University drew on the strengths of leading hospitals in China and abroad, shortened the time in the workflow as much as possible, and opened a “green channel” for emergency patients, ensuring that they could enter the resuscitation room directly from the ambulance.
The emergency department is equipped with rapid bedside testing (POCT), which can test various cardiac biochemical indicators, and has an emergency operating room and an emergency catheterization laboratory, where emergency cardiac surgery and interventional treatment can be performed at any time. The cardiac emergency medical and nursing team is on standby 24 hours a day, realizing an integrated process of “reception—treatment—surgery—admission”.
The emergency department has a three-tier duty system consisting of emergency physicians, a chief resident in the cardiac specialty, and professor-directors, ensuring the quality of emergency resuscitation. Over the past 3 years, the annual average number of patients receiving emergency rescue in the cardiac emergency department has been nearly 3,000, and the rescue success rate has reached 99.2%.
