Neurotrauma Department
The Department of Neurotrauma at the First Affiliated Hospital of Dalian Medical University was established in 2016, with its main areas of development including cerebrovascular disease, tumors, trigeminal neuralgia, hemifacial spasm, microvascular decompression, severe trauma, and the sudden awakening of patients in coma or a vegetative state, among others, and it has developed a distinctive technical profile. Endovascular embolization treatment of intracranial aneurysms, microsurgical clipping of aneurysms under a microscope, and other key research areas of the specialty have led to the establishment of a scientifically sound and rational diagnostic and treatment system for hemorrhagic cerebrovascular disease.
The department has strengthened cooperation with advanced neurosurgical centers in China. While providing minimally invasive neurosurgical treatment, it integrates experience in neurocritical care and neurotrauma, and collaborates with Neurology, Nutrition, and other specialties to improve the level of postoperative rehabilitation. The department also provides well-established treatment for various cerebrovascular diseases and functional brain disorders, such as intracranial arterial stenosis, cerebral aneurysms, moyamoya disease, trigeminal neuralgia, and hydrocephalus. In recent years, with the development of neurocritical care and rescue technologies, the treatment level for many severe traumatic brain injuries, intracerebral hemorrhages, and hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathies has improved significantly; at present, the department performs deep brain stimulation and spinal cord stimulation.
