Neurology Department II
The Second Department of Neurology is one of Dalian’s cerebrovascular disease diagnosis and treatment bases for rapidly enhancing the city’s medical soft power, as well as a diagnosis and treatment base for senile dementia. The ward has 34 beds. It currently has 3 professors/chief physicians, 1 associate professor, 2 attending physicians, and 3 supervisors for master’s students. The department has 3 doctors with doctoral degrees, 1 doctoral student currently enrolled, and 1 staff member with a master’s degree; there is 1 head nurse and 3 nurse supervisors.
Specialties of this ward:
Movement disorders: Diagnosis and treatment of Parkinson’s disease, dystonia, and other movement disorders, with particularly good results in the standardized treatment of reduced efficacy and dyskinesia in patients with advanced Parkinson’s disease.
Botulinum toxin treatment: We were the first in Northeast China to initiate botulinum toxin treatment for dystonia. We are now a training center for this treatment in Northeast China and have achieved outstanding results in treating conditions such as hemifacial spasm, spasmodic torticollis, and limb spasticity with botulinum toxin.
Dementia: Early identification and treatment of senile dementia are provided.
Epilepsy: We were the first in the province to initiate standardized diagnosis and drug treatment for adult epilepsy. We have extensive experience in refractory epilepsy, reproductive counseling for patients with epilepsy, and treatment of status epilepticus. We have established an electronic medical record database for epilepsy and implemented a consultation system for difficult epilepsy cases.
Peripheral neuropathy: For peripheral neuropathies whose primary clinical manifestation is limb numbness, we conduct etiological screening and standardized electrophysiological examinations, and have initiated genetic screening for common hereditary peripheral neuropathies.
Diagnosis and treatment of neuropathic pain: We provide standardized treatment pathways for conditions such as diabetic peripheral neuropathic pain, postherpetic neuralgia, and trigeminal neuralgia.
High-quality nursing care: Guided by the principle of clinical “frontline” nursing, we provide seamless nursing services. We were the first department in the hospital to establish the “Rehabilitation Home” activity center, extending high-quality nursing care into patients’ homes. We have received honors as an outstanding team at the provincial, municipal, and hospital levels on multiple occasions.
