Vascular Surgery

Vascular Surgery is a distinctive subspecialty of General Surgery, a National Key Clinical Specialty; it is also a core unit of the National Clinical Medical Center for Radiology and Therapy, a national demonstration center for standardized diagnosis and treatment of venous diseases, and a training base of the China Stroke Alliance for surgical treatment of the carotid arteries. Since its establishment in 2003, the department has forged ahead, performing at least 2000 operations annually; its clinical technical capabilities have reached an advanced level in China, and it has developed its own distinctive features. The department currently has 2 chief physicians, 2 deputy chief physicians, 3 attending physicians, 2 resident physicians, 1 doctoral supervisor, and 2 master's supervisors.

The department focuses on the following treatment programs:

· Surgical and endovascular treatment of thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysms and aortic dissection · Surgical and endovascular treatment of lower-extremity arterial occlusive disease · Carotid endarterectomy for carotid stenosis and carotid artery stent placement · Creation and maintenance of complex dialysis access · Endovascular treatment of stenosis of the mesenteric and renal arteries · Surgical and endovascular treatment of peripheral and visceral artery aneurysms · One-stop minimally invasive treatment of lower-extremity deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism · Minimally invasive day-surgery treatment of lower-extremity varicose veins · Minimally invasive treatment of hemangiomas and vascular malformations · Physical and surgical treatment of lymphedema

This discipline has established sound cooperation and exchange with leading institutions in China and abroad, including Yale University in the United States, Tokyo Medical and Dental University, Peking University, Fudan University, Peking Union Medical College, China Medical University, and others, giving its development both a solid foundation and broad prospects.
