Jinpu Campus Urology Department
The Department of Urology at the Jinpu Campus of the First Affiliated Hospital of Dalian Medical University was established in 2007. After years of effort, it has developed distinctive comprehensive expertise centered on laparoscopic minimally invasive treatment; minimally invasive treatment of urinary stones using percutaneous nephroscopy and ureteroscopy; minimally invasive treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia; and surgery combined with comprehensive adjuvant treatment for malignant tumors of the urinary system.
The department currently has 30 open beds and a staff of 2 chief physicians, 2 associate chief physicians, and 4 attending physicians. Among them, 4 hold doctoral degrees and 2 hold master's degrees. The department is equipped with relatively complete and advanced diagnostic and treatment facilities. The average number of inpatients is nearly 700 per year, the average outpatient volume is more than 18,000 visits per year, and nearly 700 operations are performed annually.
The department has consistently focused its clinical work on developing minimally invasive urological techniques and has introduced advanced technologies represented by laparoscopy and endoscopy. At present, the Department of Urology can perform highly challenging laparoscopic procedures, including laparoscopic radical cystectomy and radical prostatectomy for prostate cancer. It also routinely performs a series of conventional laparoscopic procedures, including laparoscopic nephron-sparing resection of renal tumors, radical nephrectomy, adrenal tumor resection, decortication and decompression of renal cysts, ureterolithotomy, and high ligation of the spermatic vein, reaching an advanced level in China. A series of minimally invasive treatments, including transurethral resection of the prostate and transurethral partial cystectomy, are routinely performed. For stone treatment, the department performs rigid and flexible ureteroscopic lithotripsy, percutaneous nephrolithotomy, laparoscopic stone extraction through incision, and balloon dilation using a rigid ureteroscope, covering all minimally invasive surgical treatments for urinary stones and enabling the vast number of patients to benefit from advanced minimally invasive technologies. In accordance with the principles of precision treatment, the department also provides patients with individualized perioperative comprehensive adjuvant treatments for tumors, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and targeted therapy, according to their specific conditions.
Through the efforts of all department staff, the Department of Urology at the Jinpu Campus, with its complete facilities, advanced technology, and well-organized team, will provide the general public with more, better, and more satisfactory medical services.
