The Department of Pathology of Shanghai DeltaHeart Cardiovascular Hospital was established as a team under the leadership of Professor Zhang Jie (Honorary Director of the Department of Pathology of Shanghai Chest Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, and member of the editorial board of the fifth edition of the WHO Classification of Thoracic Tumours volume). The department is equipped with various instruments and equipment conforming to international professional standards, including routine pathology specimen preparation equipment of a modern level; an automated immunohistochemistry detection platform; a fluorescence in situ hybridization detection and analysis platform; and a tumour driver gene testing platform. The pathology diagnostic team can carry out intraoperative rapid frozen-section histopathological diagnosis; various types of routine paraffin-section histopathological diagnosis, endoscopic (puncture) histopathological diagnosis; as well as various molecular pathology tests and other examination items essential to a modern department of pathology. With the aid of a high-definition image-processing remote consultation platform, renowned experts can be invited at any time to conduct consultation and discussion on difficult pathological cases, thereby providing strong support for the selection of clinical diagnostic and treatment approaches, the determination of the extent of surgery, the choice of radiotherapy, chemotherapy and individualized targeted therapy, and the evaluation of drug efficacy, and providing high-quality medical services to patients.
