Critical Care Medicine
The design and overall layout of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Shanghai DeltaHealth Cardiovascular Hospital adopt advanced concepts, with the safety and comfort of critically ill cardiovascular patients given priority in the area design and hardware configuration. The hospital applies the advanced concept of coordinated medical and surgical treatment of heart disease represented by the “Heart Team” model. Not only do the medical and surgical departments share the ICU resource platform, but the ICU wards are also adjacent to the operating rooms and cardiac catheterization rooms. After surgery, patients are transferred directly through a dedicated internal medical passage, avoiding risks such as contact-transmitted infection resulting from exposure to the outside environment and more effectively ensuring patient safety.
The ICU equipment configuration and ward environment both reach advanced domestic and international standards, with Class 100,000 laminar-flow purification; all 38 beds are in single-occupancy rooms, avoiding the risk of cross-infection. At the same time, the needs of patients with different cardiac diseases are fully taken into consideration. In addition, there is one negative-pressure isolation room, which can accommodate critically ill cardiac patients with infectious diseases or suspected infectious diseases, effectively blocking the source of infection.
The Department of Critical Care Medicine works closely with Cardiology, Cardiac and Great Vessel Surgery, Medical Imaging and Interventional Therapy, Anesthesiology, Rehabilitation, and other disciplines to provide patients with comprehensive, systematic, reliable, standardized, safe, efficient, and economical medical care.
