Glaucoma
Glaucoma is a general term for a group of diseases involving progressive optic nerve damage that can impair vision. It is mainly associated with a pathological increase in intraocular pressure. Treatment options for glaucoma include medication, laser therapy, and surgery. What are the early symptoms of glaucoma? Primary open-angle glaucoma: There are no symptoms in the early stages. Once the disease has progressed to a certain extent, symptoms such as blurred vision, headache, and a feeling of pressure in the eyes may occur. Primary angle-closure glaucoma: There are no symptoms in the early stages. Once the iris blocks the angle and aqueous humor can no longer flow out, symptoms such as a feeling of pressure in the eyes, headache, nausea, and foggy vision may occur. Childhood glaucoma: If it occurs in infants or young children, differences in intraocular pressure may cause the two eyes to be unequal in size. If it occurs in older children or adolescents, decreased vision is usually the early symptom.
