The Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at Chongqing Hygeia Hospital is a comprehensive clinical specialty that integrates functional assessment, rehabilitation treatment, prevention and health maintenance. Its fully equipped rehabilitation centre covers 1,700 m² and houses 15 treatment units, covering functional assessment, physical agent therapy, exercise therapy, occupational therapy, speech and swallowing therapy, high-frequency therapy, musculoskeletal rehabilitation, cardiopulmonary function, critical care rehabilitation, orthoses and wax therapy, hydrotherapy, and acupuncture and tuina. The department currently has 4 physicians, 7 rehabilitation therapists, 2 traditional Chinese medicine acupuncturists and tuina practitioners, and 1 rehabilitation specialist nurse. Besides a large inventory of basic rehabilitation equipment, it also has advanced devices such as transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS), a ceiling-mounted gait training system, a virtual reality (VR) interactive assessment and training system, active-passive upper and lower limb trainers (MotoMed), an upper limb rehabilitation robot, upper and lower limb continuous passive motion (CPM) devices, a complete ADL training set, an EMS shock wave therapy device, an intermittent pneumatic compression device (LGT), a three-dimensional dynamic interferential current therapy device, electromyographic biofeedback, an upper limb whirlpool bath, a Chinese herbal steam therapy unit, microwave and ultrashort wave devices, a magnetic vibration heat therapy device and a cerebral circulation therapy device.
