Nuclear Medicine
The Nuclear Medicine Department was founded in 1984. Its acting head is deputy director Fu Liping. Staff include one chief physician, four associate chief physicians, three attending physicians, two residents and nine technologists; qualifications include one postdoctoral researcher, five doctorates, four master's degrees, eight bachelor's degrees and one junior-college qualification. Fu Liping holds a doctorate and postdoctoral qualification in neurobiology, supervises master's students at Peking Union Medical College and serves on nuclear medicine professional committees of the Chinese Medical Doctor Association, China Association of Medical Equipment, Beijing Medical Association, Beijing Association of Integrative Medicine and Beijing Medical Doctor Association, as well as editorial boards of journals on Alzheimer's disease and Chinese medical imaging. Fu has led three completed provincial or ministerial projects, leads one ongoing National Natural Science Foundation, one Ministry of Science and Technology and one Beijing Natural Science Foundation project, participated in three provincial or higher projects, published over 30 papers including 18 SCI papers and contributed to five books. The hospital describes specialist outpatient services for iodine-131 treatment of hyperthyroidism and PET/CT tumor diagnosis and one thyroid function testing room; the current specialist clinic is listed as PET/CT tumor diagnosis. Equipment includes one PET/CT, two SPECT, one dual-energy X-ray bone densitometer and one thyroid function tester. The hospital describes its PET/CT model as advanced, with shorter examination time, higher resolution and lower injected dose. Services include 18F-FDG PET/CT and SPECT: tumor imaging, viable myocardium imaging and brain metabolism imaging with 18F-FDG; dynamic renal, myocardial perfusion, ventilation/perfusion (V/Q), brain, bone, thyroid and parathyroid imaging. The hospital reports more than 3,500 PET/CT examinations yearly for lung disease and around 400 V/Q SPECT/CT examinations for pulmonary vascular disease. It also provides iodine-131 treatment for hyperthyroidism and bone density measurement. Over the past five years the department reports one provincial-or-higher funded project (a general National Natural Science Foundation project), six hospital projects, five SCI papers and 15 papers in core journals, as well as presentations at Chinese and international conferences. It teaches Beijing standardized nuclear medicine resident training and clinical courses for Peking University Health Science Center and Beijing University of Chinese Medicine. The outpatient department is on the first floor of Building C. Service desk: 010-84205392; office: 010-84205396.
